You know Tom Hanks? One of the nicest guys in Hollywood? Super talented actor and Oscar-winner? A well-rounded human being? Well, he revealed to David Letterman on Late Show (an appearance to promote Captain Phillips) that he has Type 2 Diabetes. Awwww … via Page Six …
“I went to the doctor and he said, ‘You know those high blood sugar numbers you’ve been dealing with since you were 36?,’” Hanks said on Late Show With David Letterman. “’Well, you graduated! You’ve got Type 2 diabetes, young man.’” The actor joked to Letterman, “My doctor said, ‘If you can weigh as much as you weighed in high school… you will essentially be completely healthy… you will not have Type 2 diabetes.’ And then I said to her, ‘Well, I’m gonna have Type 2 diabetes. Because there is no way I can weigh as much as I did in high school.’”
The good news is that he has a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing and he has the resources to treat his condition, which unfortunately not everyone has because apparently people hold medical attention to the same economic standards as “what coffee house do I go to today?” Sorry, that’s my tiny piece on the matter.
