‘Toddlers & Tiaras’ got canceled!

Toddlers & Tiaras

Toddlers & Tiaras

Toddlers & Tiaras, the TLC reality show about ruining your pre-kindergarten aged children by forcing them to compete in a toxic environment well before they have the mental faculties to process what’s going so that you can achieve your unfulfilled dreams vicariously through them child beauty pageants has been canceled after six seasons. RadarOnline reports …

“After six series, the show has been officially taken out of production,” one insider revealed. “Was it pressure from distractors? No-one is saying, at least, not yet. They aren’t using the word ‘canceled,’ but I can tell you that the show is over.” The last episode “History of America Pageant” will air on October 16. When asked for comment, TLC said: “Nothing has been decided at this time, we are just not currently casting at the moment.”

I’m sorry, I’m about to go against all my camp sensibilities here, but this show was just morally awful. The kids looked miserable most of the time, the parents were way too eager to exploit their kids, and the entire crux of the show was “Haha! Poor people!” I understand camp, but there’s a difference between positive camp (e.g. John Waters, who at least cared deeply for the oddballs and weirdos he worked with) and being derisive. (“That mom just dressed her daughter up as a prostitute Julia Roberts! Hysterical!”)
