Jem and The Holograms

Half the fun of rebooting old TV shows and movies from the 80’s is seeing which actors and actresses who aren’t even old enough to reference the source material get cast. Such is the case with the new Jem and the Holograms movie, which is filled with talented young actresses, none of whom were alive when the show was on the air. (To be fair, neither was I, so this is more an observation than a condemnation.) SlashFilm reports …

Aubrey Peeples, best known for a role on TV’s Nashville, will play Jem. Disney star Stefanie Scott is Jem’s sister Kimber, Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) is Shana and Hayley Kiyoko (Lemonade Mouth) is Aja. Jon M. Chu is directing from a script by Ryan Landels. The director posted a photo of the full Jem and the Holograms movie cast, which you can check out below.

Just in case you thought I was kidding about none of these actresses being alive when Jem and The Holograms was a thing, Hayley Kiyoko was born three years after the show went off the air. How crazy is that? I don’t know about you, but I suddenly feel old. Oh gawd, my own mortality. Get off my lawn! My kids never call me …
