Meryl Streep is ‘The Iron Lady’

I totally smell Oscar all over this … here’s the newly released poster for The Iron Lady starring Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep as former British Prime Minster Margaret Thatcher (1979-1990). Meryl already has sixteen Oscar nominations winning twice (as for Golden Globes, she’s been nominated twenty-five times and won seven), I’ll bet right now she’s nominated once again! The film is releasing on December 16th, just in time to be considered for next year’s awards! I wonder what Ms. Thatcher (now age 85) thinks of this film adaptation of her life? Having Meryl play you I would imagine to be quite an honor!

The Iron Lady is a surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.

Who else is ready for ‘The Muppets’?

Just last month I posted the full trailer for The Muppets (opening November 23rd) and now here’s a look at the final one sheet movie poster! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for the return of the Muppets franchise. There really hasn’t been a proper Muppet movie since 1984′s The Muppets Take Manhattan, which I still adore to this day, it’s seriously hard to believe that movie is already 27 years old! I hope this new film starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams lives up to my many expectations and very high hopes. Who else is with me on this one, are you excited for a new Muppet movie?!

The Muppets

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

HBO unveils their Pee-Wee Herman poster!

A few weeks ago I posted the good news that Pee-Wee Herman was bringing his recent hit Broadway production, The Pee-Wee Herman Show to HBO next month (March 19th), now here’s a look at the poster, featuring two of my favorite Playhouse characters, Miss Yvonne and Cowboy Curtis! The network is on fire as of late, not only will they be featuring Pee-Wee, they’ve also got Lady Gaga‘s Monster Ball Tour (May 7th) plus I’m dying to see that mini-series Mildred Pierce (March 27th) starring Academy Award winner Kate Winslet! If you don’t have HBO, now is the time to sign up! All this good stuff is almost enough to make up for canceling The Comeback, I still miss my Valerie Cherish!
