Showgirls meets Black Swan – HILARIOUS!

Many thanks goes out to Dlisted bringing this to hilarious trailer mashup (dreamt up by Jeffrey McHale) to my attention … I freakin’ love 1995′s Showgirls (I’ve seen it a gazillion times) and Black Swan was probably the best movie I saw all year (except for maybe Toy Story 3) There’s a bit of nudity (Oh that Elizabeth Berkley) so be careful where you watch it!

Highway Of Control – Mashup time!

FROM DJ PAUL V.
This week we feature one of my favorite bands, Gossip. Even with major label backing and Rick Rubin in the producer’s chair, their fantastic Music For Men disc from last year has been criminally overlooked and sadly underplayed on US radio. Seems like the fearless queer-positive trio can’t get a break in the sad world of autotune and pre-fabricated pop. And the day that powerhouse singer Beth Ditto even needs autotune is the day I move to Iceland! OK, I’m off my soapbox now – and ready to unleash their breakthrough hit, Standing In The Way Of Control, fiercely mashed up with both AC/DC and Digitalism. It’s provided by one of the star bootleggers out there – France’s DJ Moule.

Get Outta My Teenage Dream (Katy vs. Kylie)

FROM DJ PAUL V.
I hope the haters don’t have my head this week? Yup, it’s another mashup with Katy Perry, and her new mega-hit, Teenage Dream. And while she kinda sounded like a tone-deaf nightmare when she performed it live on SNL, I can’t get this song out of my head! Another delicious diva who once sang about things stuck in her head is Kylie Minogue, and that’s why I simply could not resist this week’s blend. It features the hands-in-the-air music from her glistening Get Outta My Way – and it’s truly amazing how flawlessly these tracks work together! Kudos to mash maker MD Official with his debut here on PopBytes.

How soon is independence? Mashup time!

FROM DJ PAUL V.
A few weeks ago, we celebrated the return of Mark Vidler (aka Go Home Productions) back into the world of making mashups. As one of the genius original pioneers of the bootleg scene, we hope he never decides to retire again! So it’s with much excitement we present another new gem from GHP, and as is his usual style, he’s able to take two songs from disparate genres and make them sound like a marriage made in heaven. And I’m thrilled he decided to use Destiny’s Child‘s Independent Women, a song that got mashed many times upon its release, and was pretty much the song that sent Beyoncé and the group into the pop stratosphere. On the other end, he uses one of most iconic songs of the early 80′s – The SmithsHow Soon Is Now. Throw in some extra funky beats, and ya’ll be throwin’ your hands up at me – and him! This comes from his brand spanking new Berlin EP, which you can grab here.
