Director Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby opens today, and despite some mixed reviews, it at least looks like a fun movie. It's got flashy colors, extravagant sets in 3D and a killer soundtrack. I'm usually against these long music videos / mini-movies but Lana Del Rey keeps on knocking them out of the park, first with "National Anthem," (EPIC) and now with "Ride!" Clocking in at ten minutes, this is for sure one of her best videos to date (her voiceover gives me chills), she looks amazing and I happen to think it's a masterpiece, although I'm sure many would disagree, she's such a polarizer! Following the release of all the Lana Del Rey news last week, she officially released her single "Ride" on YouTube, listen for yourself below. After listening to it a few times since then, I have formed a few unfinished thoughts. In Lana fashion it's very melancholic. Her vocals are extraordinary. She's more raspy than she's ever been. That hoarse drawl sounds so weathered and sore. It's a very convincing sadness a lot of people can connect to. MORE
