Despite any negative feelings you may have about Hannah Montana, that body is bangin’! Miley Cyrus is looking super trim and tone — even beyond her usual bikini-ready body. That bitch! Right? Totally. But I know what she’s been up to. Her secret? When fans noticed her suddenly shrink, they naturally assumed she had an eating disorder. Because, Hollywood.

Miley attributed her weight loss to a gluten-free diet. A much healthier alternative to starving yourself! She says she went gluten-free due to a food allergy, which is actually pretty common. While not a new trend, many have seen benefits from following this food plan, allergies or not. As with any restrictive diet, there are deficiencies that pop up — which means you have to be sure you’re getting enough fiber, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folate, iron, and calcium.

Hunger Games Workout: Get in ‘killer’ shape!

OMG you guys, are you sick of hearing about The Hunger Games yet? I mean, super excited to see the movie?!? Yah, me too. Since there’s no such thing as media over saturation, let’s see how the film’s stars got in shape to film those killer fight scenes. Because this is the kind of stuff you need to know for that impending end of the world 2012 thing.

“It’s lots of training,” Jennifer Lawrence told MTV, “but the training’s actually really fun. I’ve done archery for about six weeks, and rock climbing, tree climbing — and combat, running and vaulting. But also yoga and things like that, to stay catlike!”

Jen also told Glamour that she eats what she wants; “I don’t diet. I do exercise! But I don’t diet. You can’t work when you’re hungry, you know?”

So there — Run! Jump! Climb! Shoot stuff! And eat! If you want specifics, Vanity Fair created a routine you can follow below:

ABS AND CORE
• Exercise – Bear Squat
• Equipment – none, just your body weight
• Description – The bear squat combines a full plank, which is fantastic for the core, and an explosive leg press. Begin in plank then bend your knees and send your hips back over your heels keeping the knees off the floor (spine is flexed and arms are extended). With a powerful push from your legs, extend back out to plank and hold.

LEG STRENGTH
• Exercise – Curtsy Squat Side Lunge
• Equipment – Dumbbells
• Description – To truly develop strong legs that are functional for running, jumping, leaping and carrying heavy loads, you must train them in all directions. Holding heavy dumbbells in each hand begin with feet together. Step out to the side with your right leg, keeping your left leg straight. Hinge forward slightly but keep chest lifted with the dumbbells on either side of your right leg. Push off your right foot and immediately step back and cross behind the left leg, bending both knees into a curtsy squat.

If you watched the SAG Awards this past Sunday, I’m sorry. I don’t know why people torture themselves like that. What a snooze fest, amiright?!? That’s just how I feel about award shows in general (except the Grammys). The SAGs were kind of the same as every other award show ever; boring speeches thanking people I don’t know or care about. But if there was one thing that stood out — it was that Alec Baldwin isn’t as fat as he used to be.

The 30 Rock boss man dropped thirty pounds! That’s pretty major. He says being diagnosed as pre-diabetic was a wake up call and he changed his ways. “I do Pilates and spin, but I don’t do as much yoga as I’d like,” he told Access Hollywood. “When we’re shooting and I can’t work out, I just have to eat less. So I’m very conscious of that. But sugar was the real killer for me — that was the problem.”

Besides obviously leading to weight gain, too much sugar can also:
• Cause headaches, including migraines
• Contribute to premature aging
• Suppress the immune system
• Cause a rapid rise of adrenaline, hyperactivity, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and crankiness in children
• Weaken eyesight

Bob Harper’s ‘biggest’ weight loss secret!

If you watch him every week on The Biggest Loser then you probably already have a TV crush on Bob Harper. Just a little bit, admit it. He’s an authority when it comes to weight loss, so during a recent interview for Celebuzz I asked him what he thought the biggest myth was when it came to getting your body in shape.

His answer actually surprised me! I’ve asked many professionals this question and Bob’s answer really captures the mindset of the modern dieter. Here’s what he told me:

“I think the biggest weight loss myth out there is that there is some sort of end game when it comes to losing weight. So many people think that after they have met their goal they can begin to slack off or slowly fall back into their old ways. When you decide to embark on your weight loss journey you have to be ‘all in.’ Divorce yourself from your old behaviors that put the weight on in the first place and really change your life.”

Wise words, even though it means we have to continue to torture ourselves. Great! Right? Hey, it’s better than diabetes.

I’m not trying to scam Jennifer Hudson out of book sales or anything, but you don’t need to read I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down to discover the secret to her success. I’m sure it’s still a good book, or whatever. JHud herself revealed the moral of the story, saying: “Take your time. Pace yourself. Make up your mind to do what you want to do, and go for it. Don’t pressure yourself, and don’t go by other people’s standards.”

Done and done, girlfriend!

Another mental motto: “This is my body. I have the power to do whatever I want with it.”

One of her favorite ways to workout? A nice long run. If she doesn’t have the time/space, she says she just keeps herself moving — as much as possible. “Anything helps. Anything is better than nothing.”

Maybe it’s not fair to generalize. But let’s face it: people either want a body like Enrique Iglesias, or want a body like Enrique’s on top of them. Checkin’ both boxes over here! Lots of people start a new year off with high hopes of getting back to the gym — or getting into the gym for the first time. This is where people absolutely kill it for a few weeks before the frantic pace of their approach quickly burns them out and they stop working out by mid-February. True story! There’s no need to go at for hours at a time, seven days a week like a maniac. It’s better to work out at a higher intensity for a shorter amount of time, because science. Your body can only handle so much before fatigue. Hit it hard for about 30-40 minutes. Done.

“Though the tendency of some people who really want to get a lot out of their workouts is to spend a lot of time at the gym, the truth is that after 30 or 40 minutes, the benefit isn’t as great. To go that long, you’d have to lower the intensity of the workout, and that means that you’re spending too much time working out.” [source]

Call me a daddy chaser, but Sylvester Stallone? I would. Dude is looking super ripped in Bullet to the Head, which comes out in April of next year. Oh, and p.s. he’s 65. Sure, maybe he’s not so fresh in the face. Maybe his moobs look like flesh rocks that could crush you in a crippling man hug (fantasy death, FYI). I will say one thing though, this bitch is holding on to whatever he’s got with all his might. I respect that. So many people grow old or get in a relationship and decide to let it all go. Lazy assholes!

I also like that he’s still kicking ass past his prime. In the movie (based off the graphic novel), he plays a hitman out for revenge. All the young action studs better recognize. Hollywood — and the world at large — is very youth oriented and we tend to put our old heroes out to pasture. Do not go silently into the night.

Celeb Health Trend: Do e-cigarettes work?

Even though many a snarky blogger has commented that Johnny Depp looks like he reeks of cigarette smoke: 1) I think he looks like he reeks of sexiness 2) He doesn’t smoke cigarettes.

Johnny says he gave up smoking for his kids and has been seen using an electronic version, even on the big screen during a scene in The Tourist (although you probably wouldn’t know that since not many people saw that movie).

Thanks to the good folks over at Veppo, I’ve joined the movement! The company heard my cries for help in this area and sent me a sweet package to try out their latest e-cigarette device. All I had to do was charge the battery up (via USB or an old-fashioned socket), drop in the flavor / e-liquid nicotine drops and take a few puffs of the 510 e-cigarette to satiate my cravings. Or something.

As seen on TV: Miracle dumbell or plastic piece of crap? Move over, Shake Weight! The Free Flexor is here to steal your thunder. After watching the soft core gay porn-ish commercial, it seems that if this thing was effective then every guy in the universe would already have Hugh Jackman arms.

In some ways I’m a typical consumer. Something new? I WANT IT. No matter how ridiculous it looks, the “scientific evidence” forces me to believe their claims are true. The only reason I haven’t purchased every single fitness product as seen on TV is because my cheapness outweighs my gullibility. Just because a celebr endorses it, or just because a fitness model is looks hot hand jobbing the product, it doesn’t mean that everyone should rip open their wallets and throw money.
