We are less than one week away from the premiere of Enlightened, the brand new HBO series starring one of my favorite actresses ever, award-winner Laura Dern! She plays executive Amy Jellicoe who had a very public breakdown, went through rehabilitation and is now slowly trying to piece her life back together. Also starring in the series is Ms. Dern’s real-life mother, the incredible Diane Ladd (the two also starred together in Wild At Heart and Rambling Rose), and cutie Luke Wilson plays her ex-husband. The pilot was written and directed by Mike White (I adore his twisted sense of humor, you’ve seen Chuck & Buck, right?), who is also the series’ executive producer. I haven’t been this excited about a new show in awhile, I really hope its as good as I’m expecting. Watch the trailer below, and be sure to tune in next Monday (October 10th) right after the 3rd season premiere of Bored To Death (which is pretty decent) at 9:30pm.
‘True Blood’ season 4 starts tonight!
Are you ready to show your true colors tonight for the 4th season of HBO‘s hit series True Blood? Just last night I caught the 3rd season’s final episode again to refresh my memory, I’m dying to see what’s going to transpire this time around, with a coven of witches added to the supernatural mix. Below you’ll find the new season’s trailer along with an eight-minute sneak peek of tonight’s premiere episode! I’m totally Team Eric Northman (played by the sinfully delicious Swede Alexander Skarsgård), whose team are you on?!
Lady Gaga: The Monster Ball Tour on HBO!
Tonight is the big night! Lady Gaga is presenting The Monster Ball Tour on HBO! The concert was shot over two nights (February 21st/22nd) at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. I’ve seen the show twice live already (once here in Los Angeles, and then again in Washington D.C.) but I’m definitely tuning in again tonight (there’s a bunch of video clips posted below)! Who else will be watching with me?!
Natalie Maines’ ‘God Only Knows’
I don’t even watch Big Love (now that the series is coming to a close after five seasons, I want to see it from the start) but I am seriously loving this revamped version of the show’s theme song, Beach Boys’ classic God Only Knows by the lovely Natalie Maines for the HBO series’ upcoming finale, this coming Sunday (March 20th). Check out the promo below, you can listen to the song in its entirety over on People. As many of you know Natalie is one of the three Dixie Chicks, their last (incredible) album together, Taking The Long Way, was released back in ’06. Hopefully in the near future they’ll reunite for a new studio album, I’m a huge fan of the country trio! The other two gals (Martie Maguire and Emily Robison) got together and formed Court Yard Hounds, putting out one self-titled release album far. I haven’t heard it but after writing up this post, I’ll definitely have to check it out!
Natalie Maines’ God Only Knows on iTunes now, as heard in the series finale of HBO‘s Big Love, set to air March 20. Recorded by producer Rick Rubin in Malibu, Calif., in the end of January, and features drumming by Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

HBO unveils their Pee-Wee Herman poster!
A few weeks ago I posted the good news that Pee-Wee Herman was bringing his recent hit Broadway production, The Pee-Wee Herman Show to HBO next month (March 19th), now here’s a look at the poster, featuring two of my favorite Playhouse characters, Miss Yvonne and Cowboy Curtis! The network is on fire as of late, not only will they be featuring Pee-Wee, they’ve also got Lady Gaga‘s Monster Ball Tour (May 7th) plus I’m dying to see that mini-series Mildred Pierce (March 27th) starring Academy Award winner Kate Winslet! If you don’t have HBO, now is the time to sign up! All this good stuff is almost enough to make up for canceling The Comeback, I still miss my Valerie Cherish!
Pee-Wee Herman is bringing his show to HBO!
Are you looking for a bit of good news? Then this bit of entertainment news could be right up your alley … Pee-Wee Herman (aka Paul Reubens) is bringing his recent smash-hit Broadway show The Pee-Wee Herman Show to HBO next month on March 19th! Although I didn’t get to see it in New York City, I was able to catch the show’s first run right here in Los Angeles (read my review – complete with pictures and video) and I totally loved it and can’t wait to see it again! I’m also extremely giddy over the thought of a brand new Pee-Wee movie which is apparently in the works! I’m pretty sure that my second favorite movie of all-time (behind Annie Hall) is 1985′s Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, I’ve seen it a countless number of times (I love the whole Alamo basement bit) but unfortunately 1988′s Big Top Pee-Wee just didn’t do it for me at all! Hopefully the third time around will be the charm, it’s rumored to be focusing on the kidnapping of the King Of Cartoons, there’s going to be some drama up in the Playhouse!
