Academy Award winning songwriter Joseph Brooks is dead from an apparent suicide at age 73, he was found in his New York City apartment earlier by a friend. Said friend discovered his lifeless body slumped over the side of a sofa in his den, his head wrapped in a plastic bag, the bag was connected to a helium tank via a tube. Brooks, the writer of You Light Up My Life (made famous in 1977 by Debby Boone), has been battling in court for months now, on charges of sexual harassment of over a dozen females. He’s not the only person in his family whose achieved recent notoriety for crimes committed, his 24-year-old son, Nicholas Brooks, was charged with the murder of his fashion designer girlfriend Sylvie Cachay, strangled to death in an overflowing swanky New York hotel bathtub. Mr. Brooks left behind a rambling three page suicide note.
