Everyone should know by now how much I love Sinéad O’Connor … this goes back many years–to when she first hit the music scene back in 1987 (I was eleven, she was twenty) with her incredible debut album, The Lion and the Cobra (that still seriously holds up today–almost two decades later). Over the years the controversial Irish singer / songwriter (now 47) has had her fair share of ups and downs (that’s putting it lightly) yet right now Sinéad is on the brink of releasing her tenth full-length album that features some of her strongest material to date. I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss (iTunes), due out August 11th, definitely unlocked all the memories of the Sinéad I recall best. The lead single, “Take Me To Church,” couldn’t be more perfect. It speaks to Sinéad’s career as a whole plus signals an overdue return to her musical roots where Sinéad truly shines. Don’t miss the new music video that kicks off with a superimpoistion of the present over Sinéad’s 1990 video for “Nothing Compares 2U.” When she rips her wig off, it’s obvious girlfriend isn’t fucking around these days–Sinéad looks and sounds absolutely stunning! I’m praying she’ll play a show here in Los Angeles in support of her new album (which is fantastic), it would be a dream come true to finally see Sinéad perform live.
