am i just really tired & beat from this week and starting to hallucinate? check out shakira below who looks stunning at MTV‘s latin american video awards which took place thursday night in mexico! notice what ms. shakira is holding though – it’s like a big nasty cow tongue with a silver MTV logo smack in the middle of it!!! it must be the award she picked up for hips don’t lie which won best video…i never saw any award that looked so gross and disgusting! this looks like a porn award or something paris hilton might pick up…that’s so not something shakira will be tossing up on her mantle anytime soon! if anyone knows the ‘meaning’ of this tongue thing – please leave a comment! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!

    The award is known as a lengua, which can mean tongue and language in spanish, and spanish is the lanaguage that connects all of latin america.

    Hi I’m form Chile. I must to say that The Tongue of the MTV latinamerican awards is like the personal sing of them. Since this awards started the tongue was the brig price,. For every latin artist to win The Tongue is a really big goal, so don’t freak out cause this is part of the MTV’s irreverence.

    im from mexico, and the tongue for what I know, doesn’t mean a thing, and I also think that the award is sooo groooss, on the other hand the show was OK. shakira was great (on the show) like robbie williams, kinky and evanescence but I really didnt like Nelly Furtado’s performance

    I agree with 3BLUE, i think that’s the meaning of the tongue, which means “lengua”, that, besides meaning “tongue” can also mean “language”, and Latin America is “united” by the spanish language. Besides, I think it perfectly shows how weird MTV is. Anyway, the show (as far as I saw it) was great =) Robbie Williams and Shakira performed awesomely well.

    Hey guys, I’m from Argentina… south america…. you know?! and heres the deal with the tongue or “la lengua”.
    On their first time giving away the awards they had this sort of instructional video showing how they created the concept of the tongue. They said that the tongue represents the language that makes us all come together… because that’s as much as we all have in common. Also, they showed how Gene Simmons lended them his tongue to make a cast our of it and produce the so gross tongue award.
