I get that not everyone really felt him as the host, but I have to get Seth credit: He did the best he could. Hosting the Academy Awards are kind of a sisyphean task, where you can either play to the audience at home and lose the one in the theatre or vice-versa. Not many people can successfully play to both audiences at the same time. Nor did it help that he relied on shock value and Manatee jokes most of the time. Honestly, those are starting to get stale on Family Guy — the one show where they actually work — so pulling them out for The Oscars just isn’t going to end well.
