Okay yes, I know that’s not how you’re supposed to spell it but until someone can actually come up with some sort of unified spelling for this asshole’s name, I’m going with this one. Aaaaaaaaanyway, Canadian musician Nelly Furtado, true to her word, donated the $1 Million bucks she received from performing for Gadhafi and his family, so you know, kudos to her on that one. Access Hollywood reports:
She made this latest announcement Tuesday at a youth empowerment day organized by Canadian co-founders of Free the Children. Her donation will go toward building a girls school in Kenya and a Free the Children program supporting girls in the Middle East and North Africa. Usher, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé have all also promised to give the fees from their performances at private concerts later revealed to be linked to the Gadhafi family to charity or have said they have already done so.
Normally I would see something like and think “Shameless publicity stunt”, but to be fair, that is $1 MILLION. I don’t care how rich you are, that’s still a shitload of money to have to let go of. Not that most people wouldn’t give it up considering who they got it from, I’m just saying it wouldn’t be without just the slightest hint of regret. Although that may have something to do with the fact that I could use a real apartment with real furniture.
