It confuses me how Mindy Kaling hasn’t had her own sitcom up until now. She’s been a supporting actress (and writer) on The Office for a while now, consistently being one of the funniest parts of show, but it’s only recently that she’s been given the go ahead to lead her own show. So here’s the trailer for The Mindy Project, which will be joining FOX‘s other quirky girl comedy, New Girl, on Tuesdays this fall. I have some high hopes for it too, as unlike New Girl, Mindy actually plays someone that could conceivably exist in real life. And thank heavens for that. I loved New Girl, but after a while, it just irritated me how far removed from reality Zooey Deschanel‘s character was. So yes, I’m looking forward to this one.
