Listen: Lady Gaga’s “Venus”

Lady Gaga "Venus"

Here’s another track off Lady Gaga‘s new album, ARTPOP (out November 11th), called “Venus.” To be completely honest, I really don’t know what to make of this song (produced by Gaga herself), it’s decent and kind of catchy but there’s no way it will be played on the radio, it’s simply too bizarre (right in line with some of her recent outfits). This was supposed to be the album’s official second single, but Gaga decided to go with “Do What U Want” instead, which was a very smart move. I didn’t care for that track when I first heard it (I have an allergy to anything related to R. Kelly) yet actually after a couple of repeat listens, it’s an amazing track (her vocals on it are quite incredible) and I’ve already heard it making the rounds on top 40 radio, it totally has hit single potential. But I do get that Gaga doesn’t need (or want) to be concerned about making radio-friendly hits, girlfriend wants to make music (and ‘art’), so I’m in for the ride even if she is taking us to far off planets. I am not going to pass judgement on ARTPOP until I can hear and experience the album from start to finish.
