Lance Armstrong to Oprah: I doped!

Oprah Winfrey and Lance Armstrong

When a major celebrity is taken down in disgrace, there’s only one place they can go: Oprah Winfrey‘s couch, where they will be judged for their sins. Say what you will about Oprah, but you cannot B.S. that woman. She sees through your lies, and if you don’t come out with the truth right away, she will silently shame you until you crumble into a pile of a former man. So of course, after Lance Armstrong was publicly disgraced and stripped of his Tour De France wins on doping charges, he ended up giving an interview to the big O, where he allegedly admitted to taking steroids. Us Weekly reports …

Months after swearing in testimony that he was innocent of doping charges leveled against him by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and the World Anti-Doping Agency, Lance Armstrong has reportedly confessed to Oprah Winfrey that he used performance-enhancing drugs to win the Tour de France, a source familiar with the situation told the Associated Press. The Oprah’s Next Chapter interview is scheduled to be broadcast on Thursday, Jan. 17, on OWN. According to the AP, the famed cyclist issued an “emotional” apology to his staff prior to the sit-down with Winfrey on Monday, Jan. 14. Among those present were around 100 staffers for Livestrong, the cancer support charity Armstrong founded after his battle with testicular cancer.

Well, I can respect Armstrong for what he did, giving people something to believe in and raising awareness of testicular cancer, but I think the best thing people can do right now is separate his work spreading cancer awareness from his work as a cyclist. Because one of those is really good, and the other is rather suspect.
