Lady Gaga vs. Die Antwoord

Lady Gaga and Die Antwoord

Because people who love mainstream bubble gum dance pop love avant-garde world rap (that statement makes sense, right?) Lady Gaga reportedly asked Die Antwoord to open for her at a concert. This NSFW music video was their response:

Guess who didn’t like that? Yeah, Gaga wasn’t exactly crazy about the video, and fired back at them on Twitter, via Fuse TV

The thing is, you can only cross Gaga so many times before she strikes back (so take note, Madonna). Mother Monster recently roared back on Twitter using the reliable “100,000 fans can’t be wrong” argument: “I fink u freaky but you don’t have a hit. Hundred thousand tickets sold in South Africa #thatmysh*t.” She also posted, “I guess its not a good idea to tell someone you’re a fan. never mind! we get it, you’re not a little monster. WE GOT IT.”

If this proves anything, it’s that if you piss someone off enough, they will resort to acting like a 13-year-old girl on Facebook. Who knew? But seriously, if you’re going to go after someone, maybe taking the “I’m more popular than you, nah nah boo boo” route might not be the best option. To be fair, Die Antwoord’s response wasn’t much more mature …

Well, Die Antwoord clearly don’t think Gaga gets it, because they are not content to let this beef slide into distant memory like a certain infamous meaty dress. “Lady… even tho u r ‘larger’ than us… we still cooler than u… plus we don’t have prawns in our private parts,” they wrote on Facebook, throwing “Haha!” in for good measure.

Discourse on the internet, folks.
