la cage aux folles – a true broadway treat!

last week while i was in NYC – i got the chance to see one of broadway’s hottest shows … la cage aux folles which just received eleven tony nominations including ‘best musical revival’ and acting nods for the two main stars kelsey grammer and douglas hodge! the musical first premiered on the great white way back in 1983 – i’ve always wanted to see it live because the music (by jerry herman) is excellent (1996’s the birdcage is based on the story but in my opinion – that movie sucks) i thought everything about the show was terrific – it’s a definite crowd-pleaser (watch the video below) plus it also stars super cutie nick adams (who i previously featured on popbytes here – he’s totally broadway’s ‘it’ boy) as one of the six ‘cagelles’ (@BwayCagelles) after the show i got to meet nick – he was just as adorable as i thought he’d be (he for sure had the best body out of the bunch!) plus he was really nice – in a few months nick will be leaving the show to take on the musical version of priscilla queen of the desert (it’s playing in london right now) i guess i’ll need to head back to the big apple to see that show too! if you’re in NYC – i cannot recommend la cage aux folles enough … i laughed, i cried and it was definitely better than cats! i swear besides my friends and family, the main thing i miss about living in NYC is seeing broadway shows! popbytes over & out for now … xoxo
