Kim Kardashian’s early labor drama …

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian

One of the big ‘storylines’ surrounding Kim Kardashian‘s pregnancy was that Kim was supposedly due right around the time Kate Middleton was due. (I’m assuming it was just a coincidence she announced it right around the time Kate did.) Anyway, just before Kim gave birth, the big story was that Kim shared her due date with Kate Middleton, and yet somehow she ended up giving birth almost immediately after that story came out. So now they’re trying to spin it so that Kim was premature and she had to go into labor due to complications. Sure, okay. Page Six reports …

Kim Kardashian experienced severe swelling in the days before her baby was born on Friday and doctors feared mom had the complication preeclampsia, family sources told People magazine. Women suffering from preeclampsia develop high blood pressure and protein in the urine after 20 weeks of pregnancy. When the condition is severe, it can affect many organs and cause poor growth for the child, according to Baby Center.

On one hand, if it happened? Well, good for the mother and the baby that they both came out of it happy and healthy. But let’s be honest: This is totally the kind of thing that Kim would exaggerate for the sake of some cheap publicity. Honestly, I’m just happy that they didn’t go to high-concept for this plot line. The fact this story arch didn’t make use of evil twins, amnesia or relish at least shows that the writers are trying this season.
