Short answer: Maybe, but probably not. Long answer: People are starting to wonder if Natalie Portman is considering giving up acting after saying that raising and loving her son (who is due this summer) is more important than acting. This of course means that she’s going to give up her career, because as we all know women can’t work and be loving supporting mothers at the same time. Now let’s all practice the duck and cover, in case those darn Russians drop an atomic bomb on us.
When she scooped up a Golden Globe and an Oscar this year, Natalie Portman told Hollyscoop she felt “very, very grateful” about her career. But despite her success, Natalie spoke up about her desire to emulate the career of movie icon and Oscar winner Audrey Hepburn:
“Audrey made some good choices in life … More and more I realize how unimportant it is to be in the history books or anything like that. Putting time and energy into your children—that’s valuable.” SOURCE
Notice how she doesn’t actually say she’s quitting acting, just that her family is more important than her work. Which is, you know, what every other person in the world already knows, and yet people aren’t all quitting their jobs so they can be with their families 24/7. So no, chances are Natalie won’t be quitting her job, and she’ll still be a great mother because this is 2011, that’s how this shit works now.
