just got back from the show at wilshire – i’m a HUGE fan, have seen annie many times over the years. her show at ucla royce hall a few years ago was one of the best i’ve ever seen, but tonight was disturing, her voice sounded great, but she seemed to be hostile towards the audience. for an LA audience they were very enthusiastic, but it didn’t seem to be enough, her anger came through, she told everyone to stand at one point, folded her arms and said she was bored because everyone wasn’t standing… and at the end of the show when she told everyone “go home, go get in your limousines and go home” it didn’t feel like sarcasm or joking, she came off as hostile…very confusing, i was so looking forward to this evening, but went away feeling a bitter taste in my mouth over this. it’s too bad.

wow were we even at the same show kiki? those comments you highlighted were made with tongue-in-cheek, she was smiling, and in the spirit of the occasion came off totally charming to me. AND she was polite to the annoying hawaiian-shirted dude who stood up right in front of her trying to implant himself into the show. sorry you were disappointed but I think most of us were totally enamored with her performance, I overheard so many excited comments being made by people as they spilt out onto the street after the show. to me the only upsetting part of the night was the fantastically understaffed bar in the foyer making people wait 20 minutes for a drink then serving warm beer. they need to do better than that when customers spend that much money for a ticket to attend a show at their venue. i’m going to write them a letter about it too.
