Fox Broadcasting has announced that one of their most successful and beloved shows will be hitting the can after the eighth season commences in April. House M.D. has consistently been a ratings giant, but apparently star Hugh Laurie is ready to move on to other projects as are executive producers David Shore and Katie Jacobs. The program will be available as a rerun (as it already is), and will leave off with 177 episodes produced, quite the accomplishment. Past star Olivia Wilde tweeted, “Shows like that don’t happen, well, ever. I’m honored to have been a part of such a brilliant story.” Sadly, one doesn’t have to have an imagination to wonder what kind of show will replace House, possibly a Glee/Smash hybrid?
