Ellen DeGeneres is hosting the Oscars again!

After last year’s Oscars host, Seth MacFarlane, managed to piss off nearly everyone in Hollywood by making jokes you thirteen-year-old brother/23-year-old stoner cousin loves, it makes sense that they’d go for a host who would be a little nicer. So naturally, they picked the most pleasant, beloved, PG-rated comedian to do the honors: Ellen DeGeneres. Via HuffPo

Ellen DeGeneres will host the Oscars. The comedian and talk show host made the announcement via her Twitter feed on Friday. DeGeneres has experience hosting the Academy Awards: She previously served as emcee during the 2007 ceremony. “I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time,” DeGeneres said in a press release announcing the big news. “You know what they say — the third time’s the charm.”

I remember Ellen’s hosting a few years back, and she’s definitely a crowd pleaser to say the least. Yes, maybe she’s not as edgy as some other comedians, but she’s able to get the audience (both in the theater and at home) on her side, whereas someone like MacFarlane kinda alienated everyone aside from straight white stoner boys. I’m not saying MacFarlane’s comedy is bad, I just think he completely misread his audience and ended up delivering jokes that completely turned off his audience. Oh, and including Ted was just lazy. We get it, you made a movie about a foul-mouthed teddy bear and it made a bunch of money because our Dads don’t know how to torrent. Fantastic.
