Designers get naked for CFDA!

The Council of Fashion Designers of America holds an awe inspiring awards ceremony each year, honoring the newest, the greatest, and the landmarks in the ever changing fashion industry. Along with the ceremony, the CFDA published a booklet to accompany the honorees each year, a sneak peek at the nominees, and this year the pamphlet is quite an ordeal, rightly so, featuring beautiful crisp images taken by Inez and Vinoodh. Inside Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, and Lady Gaga, amongst others, are seen in almost nothing, a concept Inez came up with according to WWD. Trey Laird creative director of the awards comments, “Inez tried to make everyone naked. That was the starting point and it went from there, There’s a little bit of skin this time — more than normal.” What a concept, especially in the fame oriented world of today, and in the same world, sex sells, above all else. In the continuing economic downwhirl, perhaps this edgy publicity is just what the industry needs, and it certainly doesn’t hurt getting to see Marc Jacobs in the semi-nude, either way.
