Dan Harmon might be coming back to ‘Community’

The other day I was chatting with a friend who, like me, totally loves Community. Well, sorta. While he liked the first three seasons, he’s apparently not a fan of the fourth. At one point, I remembered that he didn’t actually have cable, to which he replied that he just watches them all online. So … yeah. I’m just saying, if you pirate a show for free, you don’t really get to complain about the quality that you’re not paying for. But no worries, because Dan Harmon might be coming back for the show’s fifth season, so you can all chill now. Dan’s got this. Via NY Daily News

The 40-year-old Harmon — who had been jettisoned from his own show by Sony Pictures Television before last season — told fans at a taping of his podcast Sunday that he’d been asked to return, according to a reporter for HollyWookiee.com, who was in the audience. NBC announced it was bringing back the cult favorite comedy starring Jeff McHale for a fifth season despite tepid ratings. But this past season of Community was panned by critics who felt the show’s edge was dulled by Harmon’s absence. “I’m not saying you can’t make a good version of Community without me, but I’m definitely saying you can’t make my version,” Harmon wrote on his Tumblr page at the time.

Honestly, the fourth season of Community? Not as bad as everyone says it is. Look, I’m not saying it was the best season (I think that one goes to season two) but I appreciate what it was and, for all of the obstacles it needed to jump over, it turned out pretty well. That being said, I am looking forward to Dan coming back, as the guy really is just an absolute genius when it comes to comedy. The Sarah Silverman Project? Just amazing. So, so amazing.
