Britney Spears’ new music video has Brits in an uproar!

Britney Spears

Britney Spears was filming a music video for her new single Criminal over in the UK, and because dumbass politicians are practically a universal language, certain members of the British Parliament are shocked, SHOCKED, that Brit would dare shoot a video in their country involving gun violence after the riots that occurred over the summer, now they want an apology because it’s really hard to tell the difference between someone shooting a pretend gun in a music video and a FUCKING RIOT. Digital Spy reports:

Hackney Council told London Tonight: “In this case we did not agree that a replica gun could be used at Stoke Newington Town Hall and we are disappointed … we will be raising this matter with the production company.” Councillor Ian Rathbone added: “I think she should apologize and make a sizeable donation to a Hackney charity that deals with young people… for the rudeness and damage she’s done to this community.” Asked if she thought the council was overreacting, Hackney MP Diane Abbott insisted: “It is only a music video but it’s images like this, with popstars glamorising gangs, which means that some young people… get drawn in. Britney should really know better.”

NO. Not how that works. The riots in the UK over the past summer were not caused because Britney Spears grabbed a toy gun and went pew pew pew (I’m terrible at making gun noises). It was because of social unrest, a widening gap between the people and the government, and a bunch of other mitigating factors that in no way had anything to do with celebrities. Also: do you have any idea the level of derp you need to reach in order to out-dumb Britney? Jesus. Christ.
