As much as we love Britney Spears, she’s not necessarily someone we look at and go, “Yes, that’s someone who should write a book.” But since Britney is famous and that’s apparently all you need to get a book deal these days, MTV reports that she’s now in talks to write a novel. A novel. You know that novel you never finished because you were worried it wouldn’t be any good? Well, don’t worry, the bar just got set a little lower.
Britney Spears has certainly accomplished a great deal in her impressive career. She has released seven albums, she’s a judge Fox’s hit show The X Factor and she’s is a savvy business woman, releasing nine fragrances since 2004. And now it appears that there is one more job title Spears can add to her long list of endeavors — author. The pop star is currently in talks with HarperCollins imprint It Books to pen her first novel. MTV News reached out to Spears’ representative about the new book deal. “To my knowledge there are discussions but nothing confirmed,” her rep said.
Here’s what kills me in all of this: Britney is under conservatorship right now, so if I’m following this logic, she’s not smart enough to make any decisions on her own, but she is smart enough to create a plot, well-rounded characters with motivations, and a believable environment? No, totally, that makes complete sense.
