good evening! i hope y’all managed to catch the opening ceremony of the 2008 summer olympics over in beijing, china – i was totally blown away – i’ve never seen a show quite like that – holy cow! the sheer number of people involved in the massive production was insane and it was all synchronized like clockwork – a totally brilliant & awe-inspiring spectacle (plus it turned out to be ratings gold for NBC) you MUST check out some of the stunning and beautiful photographs posted over on the big picture – gosh i hope both vancouver (2010 winter olympics) and london (2012 summer olympics) are figuring how they can outdo beijing’s opening ceremony – it’s going to be super difficult to top this one! popbytes over & out for tonight…xxoo

    NBC seems to be more concerned about blocking broadcasts from other countries, not because of their right, but to avoid Americans seeing the editing that NBC took the liberty of doing to the Opening Ceremony.
    After comparing with the BBC broadcast, it is clear NBC discarded certain images of the artistic presentation of the event. At least one of those images was clearly political. The delayed broadcast on Friday night, a blatant act of commercialism, outraged thousands of Americans. However, should this broadcasting company be made to answer about the censorship it imposed on 260 million Americans?
    The Olympics are a legitimate news event. Should we expect the same altering of the Closing Ceremonies?
