For those of you who aren’t in the know (like me, five minutes ago) performing at the Met Gala is apparently the single coolest gig a performer can land. So of course, it only makes sense that whoever gets the gig must be the coolest cool to ever cool a cool. So you can see how Azealia Banks might have landed the gig. Yay hipsters! Via Huffington Post reports:
– Azealia Banks will perform at some point in the Gala, even if not as the sole performer of the night (an honor previously bestowed upon Rihanna, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, etc.).
– Following a private Karl Lagerfeld concert with a gig at fashion’s biggest party? Banks is the industry’s newest musical fave.
– Lana del Rey’s fashion moment, on the other hand, seems to be drawing to a swift close, that Met Gala invite notwithstanding.
– Those Jennifer Lopez rumors are looking less and less true.
Yay, let’s all sip our PBRs and stroke our ironic moustaches and wear our ironic Pikachu t-shirts (no, really, I actually saw someone do all of these things once. What a douche!) because someone beloved by the web made it big! Which must mean we have to immediately disavow. How dare talented people be popular! That’s not the hipster way!
