Because we love us some Amy Poehler, here’s the latest episode of Ask Amy, which is part of her Smart Girls series designed to help out young girls. In this episode, Amy teaches girls how to accept positivity and accept negativity. It’s really good advice, but if I could add something … there are going to be times where you get negativity in your life, and you’re going to have to accept it. It would be great if people were only ever positive, but sometimes you’re going to hear things you don’t want to, and they’ll be true. The best thing you can do when it comes to dealing with positivity/negativity is to try and gauge the intent behind it and go from there. Don’t close yourself off from what other people say because you don’t want to hear it or you don’t believe it, but at the same time, you don’t have to listen to everyone. Trust your gut, it’s usually right.
