one day at a time

this is how i live and love my life – one day at a time – i think that’s you can really do – and god i love bonnie franklin – check out all the fun on CBS tonight when the cast reunites!

The ONE DAY AT A TIME REUNION SPECIAL reunites original cast members Bonnie Franklin (Ann Romano,) Valerie Bertinelli (Barbara Cooper,) Mackenzie Phillips (Julie Cooper) and Pat Harrington (Dwayne Schneider) to reminisce about their days together on Norman Lear’s popular, long-running comedy about a single, divorced mother raising two teenage daughters. The cast looks back at their days on the series that mirrored what was happening in society in the 1970s. They discuss the serious issues the show addressed–divorce, teen sex, peer pressure and marriage–as well as the fashion and hairstyles worn at the time and how their on-screen struggles often reflected what was happening in their off-screen lives. Pat Harrington also joins them to talk about how his character protected the three women, his outrageous entrances into the Romano apartment and Schneider’s secret crush on Ann.

i love murphy brown

hey kids – the rain still pours down here in la – mud slides, floods – and general wetness abounds – so i curled up with my latest pop treat – and settled into a few episodes from the first season of the now classic 90′s sitcom murphy brown (with one of my faves – candice bergen) – the first season just arrived on DVD – and its 22 episodes of pure murphy bliss – i swear they don’t make sitcoms like this – im not really into many today – i love classics like all in the family, maude, and the jeffersons – and i think i can safely say that murphy really belongs in the best of the best – it such a smart show – and so funny it hurts – i love it! – the cast is simply amazing – the script is sharp and witty and still relevant today – and tackled social issues in ways most shows do not today – and then to top it all off – the soundtrack is great – i kinda forgot that it’s like a bunch of motown classics (shirelles, supremes, temptations) – so i just had a blast – all these shows coming out on DVD is oh so fun – they look better than i remember – and no commercials – and sometimes commentaries are included! what more could this TV hipster want? im out and wet for now! xxoo

Murphy Brown, the Emmy-Award winning and critically acclaimed sitcom, parodied current events and took Washington by storm, with Candice Bergen playing Murphy Brown, the veteran star reporter of “F.Y.I.” a highly successful weekly magazine series. Along with her quirky cohorts “F.Y.I.’s” stuffy anchorman Jim Dial (Charles Kimbrough), investigative reporter and Murphy’s best friend Frank Fontana (Joe Regalbuto), a perky former Miss America, Corky Sherwood (Faith Ford) and executive producer and somewhat neurotic Miles Silverberg (Grant Shaud), Murphy Brown was not afraid to tackle any topic while going through secretaries like a revolving door.
