‘ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT’ IS BACK!!!

Normally, I try not to use anymore than one exclamation mark (or none. I like none.) but news like this needs ALL THE EXCLAMATION MARKS! And capital letters. SO MANY CAPS. Anyway, in anticipation for the Arrested Development movie (which is finally a thing, thank heavens) a 4th season of the show will make its way onto the airwaves, possibly on Showtime. Marry me. Access Hollywood reports:

At an Arrested Development reunion Sunday at the New York Festival, the creators and cast announced plans for another season of theshort-lived but critically acclaimed TV show, which went off the air in 2006 after just three seasons. They also discussed more concrete plans for a much-awaited movie. Creator Mitchell Hurwitz said he wanted to do the movie originally but decided to tell where the nine main characters have been for the last five years. The Fox show starred Jason Bateman, Michael Cera and Portia de Rossi. Shooting for the TV show is tentatively set to begin next summer.

Oh. Thank. GOD. You have no idea how many Internet petitions I had to sign for this to happen, but apparently one of them must have worked. You know, because petitions are totally things that work. Look at all those Firefly petitions that convinced Fox to bring the show back from – what’s that? It’s still beloved but canceled? Shit. Well I guess the shows they do and don’t bring back is more or less completely random.

Arrested Development

well, you certainly have a type

So news is that the on-again-off-again-on-again-off-again Arrested Development movie is on again (thank God!), and just in time to promote their new movie, The Switch, Jason Bateman has offered a role in the movie to Jennifer Aniston … Her? Oh I kid, I love Jennifer Aniston. However, I love obscure Arrested Development references more. Priorities people.

Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she would be interested to do a role in still-not-yet-confirmed Arrested Development movie. ‘I love it. I actually think I might have asked (Bateman) if that was possible,’ the Herald Sun quoted Aniston as telling MTV.com, responding to the comments made by Jason Bateman he would like to cast her in the long delayed film. ‘Anything to work with Jason,’ she added. SOURCE

Great! Now all they have to do is finish writing the script, which Mitch Hurwitz would actually do if he weren’t a big chicken! *Claps hands and stomps feet* CO-CO, CO-CO, CO-CO CAW!

… Okay, I may have shoehorned that one in a bit, but I’m still proud of it, goddammit!

arrested development on showtime!

oh my goodness this is best news ever! i am already loving march! there is a lot of buzz around the return of my beloved arrested development and its possible move to showtime – now there is finally reason to subscribe to showtime – they have had a bunch of shows (dead like me, queer as folk, weeds, and the l word) but none of them ever got me to sign up – i am so freakin’ ready to plop down my hard earned bucks for showtime right now! oh i really hope this is indeed true – the rumor is they will be picking it up for 26 episodes! woo hoo!

BUT i do have some small concerns…i want to make sure the show remains exactly as it lived on FOX – i don’t think they need to turn up the heat or make it curse central – i hope in the network ‘crossover’ the brilliance & wit of the show remains completely untouched as it makes its way to cable – i also am really praying that each cast member will stay along for the continued ride – it wouldn’t be the same without any of them! so in this whole deal FOX loses bigtime and showtime might finally be able to grab the audience they have desperately been searching for – rock on – this truly made my day! i am beaming – long live the bluth family! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!

arrested development finale!

say it ain’t so! tonight FOX is airing a 2 hr ‘season (or series) finale’ of my beloved arrested development – which is basically 4 episodes all put together – i have been watching the DVD’s of seasons 1 & 2 – this is the best sitcom on at the moment – plus it’s probably one of my top shows of all time – if they don’t move the show to another network (rumors have been swirling for months) then it will be all over – it’s so sad – such a talented cast (jessica walter as the bluth matriarch is the best!) – the writing is so sharp & witty – so make sure you tune in tonight to see how it all could end…tonight guests such as judge reinhold, richard belzer, and justine bateman (yes real-life sister to star jason bateman) will be dropping by – do check out a glowing review of the finale over at chicagotribune.com – popbytes over & out for now – long live arrested development and the bluth family…xxoo!

we must watch arrested development

hey everybody – hope you all had a nice sunday – i had a great brunch with tabloid whore over at the cat & fiddle on sunset – she is so sweet and a great blogger – so make sure to check out her phenomenal site – we did a whole bunch of dishing about all the latest pop craziness – as well as comparing ‘blogger’ notes – but we didn’t talk about one thing which just slipped my mind…

the whole arrested development situation – it returns tomorrow night at 8pm over on FOX after like a 3 week hiatus – obviously this show is headed towards cancellation – FOX originally ordered 22 episodes for this third season which they now have cut down to 13 – 8 shows have been filmed thus far (#6 airs tomorrow night) so they could only be shooting 5 more episodes (if that…) – and cutie star jason bateman is to undergo throat surgery – so this could delay everything but we do wish him a speedy recovery – who knows what will happen to that lovable bluth family – such a freakin’ wacky show – i swear it’s unlike anything you will ever see on TV – i just ordered the first two seasons on DVD over at amazon.com – where they are on sale and you can get both for about $40 bucks which is quite a great deal – anyways just make sure you tune in tomorrow night – we are all hoping for a big ratings push to help save this sinking fast show…

moving on i’m so bummed the weekend is over – back to the grind – popbytes over & out until tomorrow…for another installment of monday .mp3…xxoo

a sunny arrested reunion…please!

well hello! – i say damn that world series – the TV schedule has been messed for weeks – oh those playoffs – and then in the end you get two weak teams – everyone is kinda wishy-washy on the whole thing (if i had to pick i guess i go for the white sox?) but enough is enough already – i am ready to get back on track – especially with a few shows over on FOX…UPN has been kinda fucked too…

this is one show i have so been missing my beloved arrested development (everyone needs a 30 minute mini acid trip on monday nights – this show is wacky & hilarious – one of my favorites) – the loopy zany gang/family of misfits return nov 7th – thank heavens – it’s so out there – i almost can’t believe it is on network tv! i adore it!

also MIA has been reunion which is a fun little show i got into – it starts in 1986 and intends to cover 20 years (1 year = 1 episode) of the lives of a bunch of high school buddies (told in flashbacks from the present where ‘someone’ is dead…who died & who killed is the big mystery?!?) – 1986, 1987, & 1988 have already aired – but check the website – they will be re-airing those episodes – and then next week (nov 3rd) we all land back in 1989 – and someone is to get married – but who? i really like the plot of this show – lots of little mysteries abound – let’s just see if FOX can make it thru 20 episodes…

and finally can i just tell you that the sun has not been shining here in los angeles – it’s been like 3-4 days now – and i’m about to slit my wrists over it – and then you get these people who are like ‘oh i kinda like days like this in los angeles’ – and i just think that’s bullshit – what a lame thing to say – so just shut-up people – this is why we live in LA – we need and thrive on the sun – it’s so depressing without it (palm trees & grey skies do not mix well here) – so please do a a little sun dance for me! (i know my pal gillian will!) gosh see how cranky i am being :( anyways rock & blog on – popbytes out for now…xxoo

arrested development w/ charlize!

oh monday monday – can’t trust that day! anyways top of the pop morning to you and yeah you guessed it i am gonna talk about more TV – maybe one day they will come out and say that TV is so good for your health and then i will be saved – i swear it’s pop insanity trying to keep track of returning shows as well as the new ones – but don’t worry as we sail into october the weaker fare will have fallen by the wayside to allow us to more fully enjoy the good stuff – and tonight – arrested development over on FOX counts as fucking great stuff – and tonight sexy lady charlize theron will be doing a 5 episode stint on this oh so wacky show – i swear everytime i watch i feel like i just dropped a hit of acid – it’s outlandish, hilarious – and unlike anything else on TV – plus jason bateman is such a cutie – so if your not already an ‘arrested’ fan – then do yourself a godammned favor tonight – and tune yr ass in – popbytes out for now – plus i have something else cool on our dear charlize that i will post later – let’s make it a theron day – xxoo!

The Emmy Award-winning comedy series ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT revolves
around MICHAEL BLUTH (Jason Bateman), the ‘normal’ one in a family of
crazies, who is forced to stay in Orange County and run the family real
estate business after his father, GEORGE BLUTH SR. (Jeffrey Tambor), is
sent to prison for shifty accounting practices. While George Sr. spent
the last year in the slammer discovering his newfound Judaism and
recording inspirational tapes, Michael spent it picking up the pieces
and trying to teach his offbeat family how to live without an endless
expense account. All the while, Michael has also been trying to do
right by his 14-year-old son, GEORGE MICHAEL (Michael Cera), an earnest
kid who works diligently at the family’s frozen banana stand.

The Bluths are led by manipulative matriarch LUCILLE BLUTH (Jessica
Walter), a socialite who is as icy as her martinis. Then there’s the
oldest son, GOB (Will Arnett), a womanizer and struggling magician
(sorry, ‘illusionist’) whose biggest trick will be to make a real job
appear. The youngest brother is BUSTER (Tony Hale), a neurotic
professional grad student and glorified mama’s boy (he spent 11 months
in the womb).

The Bluth siblings are rounded out by cause-obsessed sister LINDSAY
(Portia de Rossi), who is married to the hapless TOBIAS (David Cross), a
doctor-turned-actor who might get more work if he wasn’t a
self-proclaimed ‘never-nude.’ Lindsay and Tobias are the
ultra-permissive parents of MAEBY (Alia Shawkat), a 14-year-old who
loves finding unique ways to rebel against their overindulgence.
