Rest in peace, Elizabeth Edwards

There’s sad news to report today, Elizabeth Edwards lost her six-year battle with breast cancer at age sixty-one earlier today at her home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She was surrounded by her family, including her estranged husband John Edwards (who basically put her through hell with his affair with Rielle Hunter) I always admired her strength and resilience, she was a kind and strong woman who deserved a lot better. I pray that she’s finally at peace, I know her presence and beautiful spirit will be sorely missed by all.

You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces – my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope. These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined. The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that. And, yes, there are certainly times when we aren’t able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like. It’s called being human.

But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am grateful. It isn’t possible to put into words the love and gratitude I feel to everyone who has and continues to support and inspire me every day. To you I simply say: you know. – Elizabeth Edwards

Gloria Stuart – Rest in peace

Oh no! There’s sad news to report this morning … actress Gloria Stuart passed away peacefully yesterday here in Los Angeles at the age of one hundred – she was probably known best for her Academy Award nominated performance in Titanic (She played ‘Rose’ in her senior years) She also became the oldest person to ever be nominated for an Oscar at age 87 (unfortunately Gloria was beat out by Kim Basinger in LA Confidential) She also appeared in more than forty films back in the 1930s but will forever be known as ‘Rose’ – It’s always sad to hear about someone passing on but she definitely lived a full life and being one hundred isn’t such a bad number to bow out on, may Ms. Stuart rest in peace! xoxo

R.I.P.: That guy who back-scooped Heidi Montag

So Dr. Frank Ryan, that plastic surgeon who decided to perform ten different surgeries on mentally imbalanced and not at all intelligent rich bitch Heidi Montag, died yesterday in a car accident in Malibu. Sadly, he would have survived had he not removed his airbags in order to give Heidi the breasts she has today … too soon? Here’s big boobs’ statement:

“I am devastated to hear the news of Dr. Frank Ryan’s death,” she wrote on Twitter. “He was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was an angel and changed my life and the lives of everyone he met. He was the most brilliant talented surgeon who will ever exist. Dr. Frank Ryan changed the world.”

“My thoughts and prayers go out to his mother, family, friends, and anyone who was ever blessed enough to meet him,” she concluded. “He is in a better place.” SOURCE

I’m sorry, he changed the world? Really? I guess you could say that by jamming enough silicone into Heidi’s tits until their gravitational pull changed the Earth’s rotation, he changed the world, but that’s about it really. Somewhere, up in heaven, Dr. Frank Ryan is back-scooping angels now.

one year later: ryan & redmond visit farrah fawcett

yesterday was all about michael jackson – yet let’s not forget on that same day last year – we also lost farrah fawcett – the ‘charlie’s angels’ star battled cancer like a true trooper and managed to fight the good fight with all her will and strength but sadly she succumbed to the disease – her story is truly inspiring and i’m sure has given plenty of strength to people fighting cancer all over the world! yesterday her longtime partner ryan o’neal and their son redmond o’neal visited her grave site (located in westwood, CA) this was the first time her son saw his mom’s final resting place – as we all know he’s been battling addiction (and was incarcerated when she passed away) but ryan said the other day in an interview that redmond is sober and doing really well and thankfully has managed to stay out of trouble – farrah is definitely his guardian angel from up above! she may be gone but her spirit, courage and smile continue to live on – farrah is missed for sure! popbytes over & out … xoxo

rue mcclanahan – rest in peace

late last night we lost another great one … award-winning actress rue mcclanahan (age 76) passed away at 1:05am after suffering a massive stroke – i knew she hadn’t been all that healthy over the past few months but it was still shockingly sad to read this morning another ‘golden girl’ had died (still sprite at age 88, betty white is the only girl left!) not only did i adore rue on the golden girls playing the super sassy ‘blanche devereaux’ – i also loved her on maude as ‘vivian cavender harmon’ – starring alongside bea arthur – they would eventually be reunited for one of the best TV shows ever! (oh and let’s not forget about ‘fran crowley’ on mama’s family) i know i speak for everyone – thank you rue – ‘for being a friend’ – you will be sorely missed! popbytes over & out for tonight – xoxo

PS at the request of rue’s family – an official facebook memorial page has been set up

dennis hopper – rest in peace

oh there’s sad news to report today – after a long battle with cancer, actor dennis hopper (age 74) succumbed to his illness and passed away early this morning at his home in venice, CA – i just wrote about him a couple of weeks ago when he finally received his well-deserved star on hollywood blvd’s walk of fame (he got it just in the nick of time … people who pass on need to wait five years for a posthumous honor – like bea arthur – ugh) he had many memorable film roles but i’ll always think of him in one of my favorite movies, david lynch‘s 1986 masterpiece blue velvet in which he played psychopath frank booth (a golden globe nominated performance) who had a mommy complex plus an addiction to sniffing gas – his scenes are super disturbing (there’s a clip posted below) he was an excellent actor – and how could we forget 1969′s easy rider?! my thoughts & prayers go out to his family including his four children and two grandchildren! popbytes over & out for now … xoxo

gary coleman – rest in peace

oh i’ve been bummed out all day long over the unexpected passing of gary coleman at age 42 after he suffered a intracranial hemorrhage and slipped into a coma (his wife shannon price pulled the plug this morning) he was best known for his starring role as the adorable arnold jackson (what’choo talkin’ ’bout, willis?) on the hit 80s sitcom diff’rent strokes which i totally loved as a kid (it ran eight seasons, 1978-1986) sadly mr. coleman is another prime example of what has happened to many child stars – he was a huge success as a child but became plagued by problems and issues as an adult – hopefully he’s finally at peace now – he definitely won’t be soon forgotten! my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this time of sorrow – popbytes over & out for now … xoxo

lynn redgrave – rest in peace

sad news: the entertainment world has lost a true legend of stage, screen and television … actress and playwright lynn redgrave died yesterday after an arduous seven-year battle with breast cancer at her home in connecticut at the age of 67 – i remember lynn most recently for her 1998 oscar-nominated role in gods and monsters plus i’ll always think of those weight watchers commercials that aired when in the eighties where she proudly declared this is living! yet if you take a look at her wikipedia page – she’s done so much work over the years starting in 1963 and then hit it big with her turn in georgy girl (1966) lynn comes from a highly respected british acting family – her older sister vanessa redgrave (73) has been through so much over the past year – she lost her daughter natasha richardson from injuries sustained during a skiing accident (march of 2009) and just last month lynn and vanessa lost their brother corin (70) to cancer – my thoughts & prayers go out to the entire redgrave clan – especially lynn’s three children – she is going to be missed – thankfully ms. redgrave definitely left a lasting legacy of film and the written word behind – lynn was an excellent actress and a consummate professional! popbytes over & out for tonight – much love to all as always – xo

“Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer. She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time.” – The Redgrave Famiy

dixie carter – a ‘designing woman’ passes on

oh no! i’m so bummed about this … legendary and award-winning actress of stage, screen and television – dixie carter unexpectedly passed away earlier today at the age of 70 – she was probably best known for her hilarious turn on the sitcom designing women (1986-1993) where she played the sassy and sharp-tongued southern belle ‘julia sugarbaker’! most recently she was nominated for an emmy for her guest stint on desperate housewives (interesting side note: marc cherry the man behind ‘housewives’ (being sued by nicollette sheridan) was actually ms. carter’s assistant on ‘designing women’!) no word on why she died (or even where she died) but her husband actor hal holbrook issued this statement ‘this has been a terrible blow to our family. we would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy. thank you.’ my thoughts and prayers are going out to her friends and family – especially mr. holbrook – ms. carter will definitely be missed!

brittany murphy – rest in peace :(

oh my word … i am in total shock and disbelief right now … actress brittany murphy died early this morning (10:04am) at age 32! this is beyond sad – to be taken at such a young age – i’ve always liked her – especially in clueless! i feel awful … i just did a post on her a few weeks ago here on popbytes where i said she always looked a bit crazy – i seriously can’t believe she is dead now! i really hope the authorities do a full investigation – her creepy husband simon monjack is a totally shady character! the whole thing sounds odd to me … what 32-year-old has a heart attack and dies? there’s got to be more to this tragic story – which is still developing! may brittany murphy rest in peace :(

Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ. She was 32. A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ. We’re told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival. SOURCE

In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy. – Nicole Perna, Ms. Murphy’s Publicist
