hey my pop friends – ah yes – monday is moving on – and we can rest a little easier knowing that our dear dick clark will be back hosting new year’s eve – this time with a co-host – yes our dear hottie ryan seacrest (thanks to my mom for sending me that tidbit – she loves ryan!) – so no worries on new year’s – im mainly glad that mr. clark will be back this year! he is progressing well – recovering from his stroke last year…anyways just wanted to fill you all in on some fun tidbits going on at popbytes – monday is a slow pop day anyways…



i am super stoked to have gotten an invite to an advance screening of the new flick coming out in sept everything is illuminated – this is one of my first invites based on popbytes – so i am tickled pink about it all – and don’t worry – i for sure will post all about it when it happens in just a few weeks – in the meantime check out my post about this movie from the other day…

two invites in one day? could monday be any better for me? on aug 24th – the new film assassin by stand-up comedian margaret cho is to ‘world premiere’ at the egyptian theater (literally down my block – about 10 seconds away) – and the movie will then premiere on here!TV (a new very cool gay & lesbian cable channel!) – i’m sure the film will be hysterical – as ms. cho always is – and the premiere sounds fun – with margaret appearing in person…i will keep you all in the loop on this – no worries! rock on!








the pamela anderson roast was so fucking hilarious – i loved it – a lot more raunchy than i thought – and seeing dear bea arthur up there was a real treat – what a comedic legend (who doesn’t love maude???) – and yes she is getting up there – but her wits are still quite sharp – i was so glad she attended – overall it was one of the best things i have watched in a while – i really dig ‘roasts’ they should do them more often – so if you didn’t see it – please check it out during rerun mania on comedy central! and oh yes my courtney was in full ‘courtney-mode’ – what a whack job but i just adore her! and finally to pam – you were a total sport about the whole thing plus you raised money for a very good organization (we all know popbytes loves animals!) PETA – you are quite a gal pam – i do think america loves ya! (well at least i do!)








and to top it all off (ie the cherry on top) – i had traffic record today! over 2,100+ people came by way of popbytes today! i’m totally beaming about it – it has been slow and steady – 2 years counting – but it does keep growing – so as long as it goes up – i am thrilled! so much love to all who come to popbytes – i really appreciate it – and i hope to continue to entertain & enlighten you to all and any of the pop craziness that goes down round these parts – carry on – CARRY ON! popbytes so outtie for now…

hey kids – what is going on with all of you? not too much here in sunny los angeles but i do feel i am in a mid-summer pop slump/depression – so i figured to just be a little random and jot down a few of my recent thoughts here…



so saturday i went to the new tammy faye doc tammy faye: death defying – and it was superb – tammy was there – looked amazing & did a lovely Q+A after the film – it was all so hectic at the end so i didn’t get to meet her – but i was able to snap a pic of me with her (she had the most amazing blue eyes) – and a few other pics of the event (charlene tilton was there – from dallas) – i will be posting those very soon – all in all – yes i would have loved to met tammy and chatted her for a few – but just being in gracious and spiritual presence was enough – i felt blessed – so rock on tammy! and look for the film’s premiere on the WE network on july 25th – i can’t recommend it enough – and oh yes love to muffin and tuppins aka her adorable little dogs!



as i write this post i am watching the season finale of ABC’s the scholar – i didn’t even mention it once here – but i have been watching it for the past few weeks – i think i might have been the only one (i think my dear dana of the apprentice column has been watching too – hey d!) but it was pretty decent – a bunch of high school kids competed for scholarship money and one lucky person got a full ride – congrats to ms. melissa!



oh that big brother 6 – i finally caught up with last thursday/saturday – it sure is a summer of secrets – they found a hidden room – how cool – and darling host julie chen promises many more twists & turns – and finally we were let in on who is partnered with who in the game (each houseguest is teamed with another ‘secretly’) – i am totally hooked on this season – so be sure to check-in tomorrow night – and gosh can i just tell you that my dear kevin bought the 24/7 live video/audio stream – and the poor thing is addicted – and i soon may be too – he showed me a quick glimpse – and i was blown away – i think i may need to get in on the stream as well – who knew voyeurism could be so darn fun and sassy?!?

jeez its getting cold in los angeles! and im due to be in NYC this week – i think it will be a ‘bit’ colder there – so i dug my cool diesel winter coat out of closet storage – so i am just getting prepped for the journey back east!


jeez that desperate housewives is sure keeping the energy and thrills up! it is great – and last night was no let down! but i swear to be back tomorrow to catch you all up on the brilliance of oprah’s favorite things show today – and i think the movie below – closer is going to rock – i saw the play in nyc with natasha richardson – and twas excellent! popbytes very short, moody & out!

BRITNEY GETS HITCHED oh that girl sure stole some of emmy’s thunder – she got hitched in a surpise ceremony in studio city (at the house of kevin federline’s tailor – thats weird) anyways mom lynn and sister jaime were in attendance – all thought to be there for an engagement party – but alas ms. spears did it again – and its already lasted longer than her last 55 hr nuptials…and she gave out kabballah gift bags inscribed with the hebrew saying ‘power to heal’ – and all of his guys left with jackets with the word ‘pimp’ inscribed on the back – i swear i feel like im in the twilight zone…and be sure to catch her latest ‘racy’ video for her remake of bobby brown’s tune my perogative – all i know is that i would not make the career choice to cover a bobby brown song – but britney just seems to keep heading down a very odd path – maybe britney & and new hubby kevin should move in with whitney and bobby and do a reality show! that could be fun!
OH THE EMMY’S they were just ok – it gets a bit long after three hours – but congrats for sure to angels in america which snagged 11 wins – and if you havent seen the powerhouse HBO production of tony kushner’s very powerful and moving play – please do yourself a favor and see it! also congrats to sex & the city who all went out in emmy style - especially emmy winners cynthia nixon and sarah jessica parker – and poor donald – losing out to reality winner the amazing race – he must want to beat that host phil up! – best moment of the emmy’s was the random people selected to be surprise presenters! what a fun moment!
BIG BROTHER 5 FINALE TUES! oh its all come down to this – two of the four horseman have been left standing at the end – who will the evicted houseguest ‘jury’ award the final half a miliion dollar prize? it seems pretty split down the middle – michael may win since he has that kid to care for – but look at drew’s cute little face – who wouldnt want to give him a half a million – and he has a twin brother – ben! wow! two of em – so tune in tomorrow night as julie chen host the final festivities for my favorite reality show – and one popbytes should be on - big brother!

its time for the moanday update!

six feet under oh i have to say i fully enjoyed last night’s episode – i was glued – it was a better pay-off episode than the whole season combined – from the opening death scene – to the final suicide scene - it tied a very ‘just ok’ season together – i will be very curious to see how they handle the kind of dangling stories next season – for instance will barb return next season as lisa’s now widowed kinda bitchy sister – will claire develop a coke habit? will mom ruth rid of creepy james cromwell - and will keith take the offer to be a bodyguard to that ultra-slimy hollywood guy? how long will it be until season five? who knows – but i hope they can regroup and bring back a kick-ass season? kudos to creator alan ball for directing last nights stirring episode – i haven’t given up on the fischers yet!

mtv lamo awards ok im an asshole – here i am touting all the anticipation of the mtv vma’s last night from miami (that was a huge mistake and i think miami can certainly kiss that party goodbye) and really it was one of the most boring – uneventful award shows i had seen in a long time – the whole ‘oh britney may get married’ was such bullshit – and j lopez wasnt barely with marc – xtina was good – but kinda boring – jessica was sweet but again – kinda boring – did you see those tweeny girls like so into her performance – and they were all waving wildly – what i think must have been gifted cellphones like it was the last night of the world – and then that band in the end all up in like jesus robes – oh it was terrible – britney finally did a smart thing and stayed away from what was a memorably bad night…nuff said. so mtvtake note go back to better days like 2002 – jimmy fallon as host (who hosted last night??) and britney and michael jackson with that small flub – and i think she did the snake that year – oh britney im sorry girl your forgiven – its just not an mtv show without you! be strong!!
	the complex malibu oh boy do we have a fucking reality winner on our hands – i was glued – this was really fun – and wacky – and i am instantly hooked on another fox show – eight couples are competing in a run down apartment complex in the low key ever cool and classic malibu
the couples are a wide range of personalities – from crazy southerners, older wrong island couple, gay guys from phoenix – and my fave the couple from ny dave and ana – he’s nyc cutie boy and she’s fiery sexy domican – a match made in heaven – so i shall keep you abreast of the schedule of the show – it looks like this will settle in a friday timeslot – so it could be a conflict free hour of reality heaven!
nip/tuck dont forget this only a few more new episodes of season 2 left – and then the big finale on oct 5 with ms. joan rivers guesting as herself (i ran into melissa rivers (along with sexy jeff varner of survivor – australian outback) again in the elevator but it was crowded and i didnt feel like i could ask for the scoop in the moment but im seeking the oppty! – im dying to know what will happen with her!!!) tomorrow’s night episode is natasha charles christian falls for a blind patient; sean rejects julia’s attempts at reconciliation; julia makes a drastic decision to promote change in her life – oh i cant wait!! lady lora now has her tivo so she can relive every glorious moment in tivo glory! you go girl!

Olympics oh they are in full swing – and sports is so not my thing but I am glued to all the happenings – I already miss ‘days of our lives’ on Olympic hiatus – but it will all be back to normal soon enough – I wish I was in Athens – its empty and cheap – and in Greece – count me in for the winter games that take place next in italy…
	Desperate housewives Desperate housewives – is coming to abc in the fall – and anything with Marcia cross (aka Kimberley from Melrose place) is a must see – teri hatcher of ‘lois & clark’ fame is also in this promising dark suburban oddity – who can miss a show with a title like that – I think at the heart of it we are all desperate housewives…here’s some scoop direct from abc – ‘Looking down on her friends and family isn’t a way of life for Mary Alice Scott. Paris shouldn’t be wasting her time at silly las vegas wedding chapels – she should be scouring the streets – so if you see tinkerbell – hold onto her for paris – and maybe you can get that $1000 reward (is that all she’s worth to you paris? Its yr dog for crying out loud – a thousand is like pocket change for an heiress) see its all about paris and never nicki – she needs a scandal to shine! :)

PARIS & NICOLE oh twas a lucky day! To see these girls in person made m e get hot and sweaty and im gay but shit these gals loked hot – and making eye contact with Nicole was worth every second – I swear if I was a girl I would dress exactly like her – love her la style!
	SIX FEET UNDER oh this show is such a bore! Everyone was fucking like rabbits last night – I like the show (and I sure liked the appearance of hot as hell sarge) but i still yearn for dr. troy and nip/tuck!
JOE SCHMO 2 oh it’s the two hour finale of what me and west-kevina have labeled as quite simply – the best!
KILL BILL VOL 2 ok this dvd hits stores Tuesday – although I much prefer volume one – I do recommend this great movie – I hope by xmas time that tarntino releases a version of volumes 1 & 2 edited together – I think that would inspire brilliance – uma rocks as does daryl Hannah – so treat yrself to a fun flick!
	HAIRSPRAY both rick and west-kevina have now raved about this latest import from nyc broadway – playing at the pantages theater (in view from popbytes balcony) – so I think me needs to do a tues or wed show and go grab a single ticket – as I was so used to doing back in my nyc days (if yr a bway fan u must go by yrself sometimes as its hard to talk a non-bway fan into seeing a show for 50 dollars (at minimum!))
