oh good evening boys & girls! i'm thrilled today is drawing to a close - it was just one of those ugh days - and thank heavens tomorrow is friday (i'm doing something pretty cool tomorrow afternoon which i'll be filling you all in on soon!) anyways as i was leaving work tonight i noticed something was going down on hollywood blvd but i couldn't quite tell what it was - now i know and i don't think beyonce would be pleased about it...right next to the grauman's chinese theatre a brand new $55 million dollar madame tussauds wax museum is being built (i've kept a close eye on its progress since i work right across the street - it's due to open next spring) and tonight was the official announcement with LA mayor antonio villaraigosa overseeing the ceremony where two new wax figures were unveiled - beyonce and jamie foxx - i do love ms. knowles (who has been keeping a low profile lately) but her waxy doppelganger is awful - the hair looks so cheap - i don't like her armpit pose at all - it's just all around wrong - somebody must agree with me?!?
if someone wanted to make my likeness out of wax - i would totally need to have final approval! i think beyonce needs to get on the horn with the madame of wax! having the museum on the block will be nice - before it was just an ugly parking lot - hollywood blvd has come so far since i've lived here - it's a lot less shady! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo
oh my word - i had to share this clip before i went to bed - it'll probably get taken down but catch it while you can - it's beyonce at the american music awards performing her hit single irreplaceable with country band sugarland! immediately i thought of jessica simpson who has been talking about going country for the past few months - and then ms. knowles goes and does country style this evening - a direction that seemed to come out of nowhere (which actually worked - i thought it was pretty cute) not that beyonce thinks twice about ms. simpson - i just found it to be funny! (or maybe not and i'm just tired - i need to sleep) in jessica's eyes - beyonce stole her country thunder tonight! popbytes over & out - xxoo!
good morning! oh yes - it's friday people! is anyone else excited for the weekend?!? below i've got beyonce unveiling the new 'B phone' from samsung in NYC at the time warner center - and girlfriend looks oh so thrilled to be part of the launch - not! gosh - she looks totally miserable - which i would be too if i had to deal with endorsing some dumb ass cellphone! (although i'm sure she got paid big bucks...) now that she's done with her 'beyonce experience' tour - i wonder what she'll be up to next? hopefully something more exciting than endorsements! (ideally she should just regroup with destiny's child and call it a day) next month her concert DVD will be released (nov 27th) and although i wasn't so hot for her show - since they did film it on the night i was there (sept 2nd) i will need to purchase the disc even though i really have no desire to 'relive' the experience again anytime soon! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
good evening! so before i plunge into my thoughts on beyonce's los angeles show last night - i must first say once again that i'm a huge fan of ms. knowles & destiny's child - with that being said i can now say that last night's 'beyonce experience' was a drop disappointing - ok yes i know some people who have seen the show will totally disagree with me - it wasn't horrible by any means but overall i think the 'experience' can be summed up as 'over ambitious' - girlfriend packed way too much into her show - it was all over the map and didn't have a very cohesive feel unlike some recent concerts i've seen (i hate to keep comparing it to the timberlake show but i can't help myself - that show was super tight!)
some songs she didn't even finish before she was onto the next - like one of my favorite tracks ring the alarm - she only did about a half of the song! she also did a destiny's child medley but it all went by so quick - i would have preferred if she picked one or two songs and did them in their entirety! at the end of the medley she did a bit of survivor and called michelle williams & kelly rowland to the stage - to sing about 30 seconds - the crowd went wild - as did i - but poof they were gone before you knew it! she could've had them out for the whole song! then when she did upgrade u - she was joined by her main man jay-z who laid down his rap section of the song - again the crowd went nuts! but there were plenty of moments where people sat down as she ran through most of her ballads - i will say her voice was impeccable and she looked totally gorgeous but the whole show felt like she was trying too hard or something (b is a little over the top and sometimes too dramatic - her inner diva needs to calm herself down) it's hard to put my finger on exactly what the problem was...
for sure i didn't like the stage set-up at all which had no ramp/runway extending into the crowd - it was just a regular stage (with steps where the musicians were planted) i much preferred how madonna's most recent concert was staged with a runway where she could run down - or justin timberlake's round stage placed in the center (probably the best set-up i've seen at a large arena) my seats were decent but it's always fun to see them a bit closer!
there were plenty of costume changes (i did notice that i think she has gained a few pounds - not a lot but i've seen her thinner than last night) her male dancers were super hot and the all girl band totally kicked ass! her last song was 'irreplaceable' and ms. knowles made the crowd sing the whole first verse before she took over (a video from her anaheim performance is below thanks to somah who also let me use his pictures below!) then at the end her dancer & back-up singers rolled out a huge birthday cake - kelly & michelle popped up again - and we all sang 'happy birthday' (she turns 26 tomorrow) this was also her last north american show - she has like five more dates in canada and then the tour is complete - i'm very interested to see what she'll do next! (they were filming the show last night for a DVD release - of course i'll have to pick that up when it's released)
in the end i was way glad i went (although whenever i go downtown i get so lost - the streets totally confuse me and when i went to park i hit the curb which almost gave me a flat tire) i simply had to see her live but the show should have been tighter and not so scattered & hurried! when i got home i was flipping through my $25 souvenir program book - and it's the first one i've ever bought that had ads in the back (house of dereon, armani's diamonds, l'oreal, and samsung) which also slightly annoyed me...i still love my girl beyonce but i certainly couldn't give the show a glowing review - if anyone else has witnessed 'the beyonce experience' please chime in with a comment on what you thought! popbytes over & out for tonight - oh yes it's back to the daily grind tomorrow - ugh! xxoo

UPDATE hey hey! i just got home a little while ago - overall i had a great time - i wouldn't say it was the best concert i've ever seen but i do love my gal beyonce - plus it was her 26th birthday! (actually it's on sept 4th) even her destiny's child gals kelly rowland & michelle williams stopped by for a quick visit - along with her man jay-z! (i also spotted rihanna in the crowd who left a little early...) i'll do a more in-depth review soon - i'm so beat and sleeping in late tomorrow will be awesome! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo!
hey kids! i'm getting ready to head downtown to staples center to see beyonce in concert (with hottie robin thicke opening) i'll try and update this post later tonight but of course i'll be doing a full review sometime this week - i've had the tickets for months and as you probably know i'm a huge fan of ms. knowles and i'm fully expecting that she'll toss on a great show (i will however be keeping my eyes out for any falls or slips...) below is her video for 'freakum dress' - although i won't be wearing a dress i definitely plan to get my freakum on! i hope you guys are having a great holiday weekend - i'm so glad to have tomorrow off too! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
hey everyone! oh yes it's friday night (forever affectionately known to me as 'ladies night') and i hope everyone else is having a better time than beyonce - there's some new scandal about her boyfriend jay-z's supposed love child with 'video vixen' (gosh - i want to be a vixen!) shenelle scott! beyonce just re-released her album bday and possibly joined up for the stepmom club (sealed with a kiss if she does marry her man) all in one week! i love my gal ms. knowles but i've never been a huge fan of her being with 'jigga man' - something about him sorta creeps me out - he's a super talented rapper & business man and all but i can easily see her doing better! below is the latest cover of hip hop weekly which features the drama front & center! and if you're dying for more on the story make sure to check out straight outta nyc! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
PS i'm freakin' out of my mind obsessed with her get me bodiedvideo!
hey y'all! gosh that beyonce has been one busy bee - she's all set to re-release her sophomore album bday as a 'deluxe edition' this coming tuesday (april 3rd) which contains some extra tracks & remixes - plus ms. knowles is also releasing a video anthology on DVD which will only be available for sale at wal-mart which is pretty freakin' lame...but there's no need to fret - the videos have leaked all over the place - below are three hot new videos for the tracks get me bodied, freakum dress & green light! the first one is my personal favorite and features her destiny's child pals michelle williams & kelly rowland plus her sister solange knowles who are all super fierce as they 'get us bodied' - popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
oh lordy - check out the house of dereon ad below - yes it's that horrible and super tacky clothing line from beyonce (pictured with her sister solange) and her mom tina knowles which is still making the rounds (this ad comes from the latest issue (april '07) of paper magazine) i'm sorry but it all looks so junky - i think if anyone came up to me and told me they were wearing 'house of dereon' i would totally laugh in their face! don't get me wrong - you all know i'm a huge fan of ms. beyonce but i simply cannot deal with dereon at all - girlfriend needs to toss in the towel! i would love to hear from fans of the clothes...if there are any?!?
there's only one celebrity line that has my attention at the moment...right now i'm rocking a wallet and bag from gwen stefani's harajuku girls line (yes i even have four ms. stefani dolls) she has got the most adorable stuff for sale - i totally love it all - if i was a girl - i'd definitely be gwen! plus she just added new dates to her tour - i'm for sure going to catch her show up in santa barbara! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
PS get a load of their tagline where the sidewalk and catwalk meet - are you fucking kidding me?!?
good evening boys & girls! as promised earlier here's the very latest beyonce video for upgrade u...i actually prefer this a lot more than the 'beautiful liar' number she did with shakira! and make sure to keep your eyes peeled for one of the biggest braids i've ever seen! (it's a drop scary) popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
good morning! ah it's the weekend - yesterday was a very busy day but overall good! plus my parents came back in town from hawaii so i'll be hanging with them for the next few days before they head back to NY but i do have a fun show to go to tonight which i'll be writing about later...
anyways it looks like my gal beyonce and her family love to drink milk - remember a few months back ms. knowles got her moustache on with her mom tina knowles? now she roped her sister solange knowles into the milk mix which you can see below - ms. knowles just needs to bring her dad matthew into the mix to come full circle with the knowles family & the drink that does a body good! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
