good morning! as expected the four remaining tracks from lady gaga's upcoming release the fame: monster (out next week) leaked over the weekend (you can easily find the tracks on the web) and i must say girlfriend has eight very strong tracks on her hand - right now i'm all about monster which you can listen to below! i know i might appear a little obsessed (i've done a bunch of posts on her over the past few weeks) but i just can't seem to get enough of gaga - and tonight she'll be appearing on gossip girl performing bad romance (watch a clip) i know some people won't agree with me but i must say that lady gaga is without a doubt the most exciting thing happening in pop music today - i was resistant for a short spell but not anymore! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
BONUS PICS LADY GAGA IN SOME OF HER CRAZY LOOKING OUTFITS!
good morning! tomorrow my darling tori amos is releasing her very first seasonal album called midwinter graces (her 11th studio album) i've been listening to it for a few weeks now and it's amazing - it's perfect for people who aren't so keen on 'holiday' music - the songs all emanate a perfectly relaxing warmth! i actually find it to be better than her last album abnormally attracted to sin which i do like but i haven't really connected with it as much as her previous albums (i still need to spend some more time with it) besides covering classic songs - there's two brand new tracks penned by ms. amos (pink and glitter and our new year) thanks to imeem - you can listen to the entire album below! there's a bonus track verison available on itunes plus a deluxe edition which includes a DVD ... the holidays came early for us toriphiles! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
Midwinter Graces is an album that has been in the making for the past 40 years. Raised in the Baltimore area under the watchful eye of her Methodist minister father, Tori grew up playing holiday carols at Sunday services and Christmas Day celebrations in her father's church. These were the songs that gave a young Tori her first taste of music, and now almost 40 years later Tori gets her own chance to reimagine classics like "What Child, Nowell" and "Star of Wonder." Tori will also add her own bittersweet bliss to the season with original tracks like "Pink and Glitter" and "Our New Year."
For Midwinter Graces, Amos has again teamed up with long time collaborators Matt Chamberlain on drums, Jon Evans on bass, and Mac Aladdin on guitars. Tori has enlisted the help of a Big Band and an Orchestra with stunning John Philip Shenale arrangements to create Tori's new seasonal classics.
good morning! a few weeks ago i had the pleasure of seeing juliette lewis in concert down at the el rey (check out my videos over on vimeo) it was my second time seeing her up on stage rocking out (the first time was at the roxy) and as expected she kicked total ass! usually i'm not a big fan of actors/actresses trying to do the music crossover thing but ms. lewis is the real deal - she's a rock star and has such an excellent stage presence - she's not to be missed live! you must check out her new album terra incognita - it's good stuff and i especially love the first single fantasy bar which you can listen to below - plus there's a hot video to watch! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
good morning! oh that lady gaga - sometimes i love her ... other time she completely annoys me but one thing is certain ... she's a certifiable international pop superstar! when i interviewed her back in july of 2008 - i told her she would be big but little did i know exactly how big she'd become - girlfriend is huge right now ! she's on the verge of a headlining tour - plus gaga is re-releasing her chart-topping debut album the fame under the title of the fame: monster on november 24th and will include eight brand new tracks ... one of 'em being alejandro which you can listen to below! i've been listening to it on repeat all weekend long - it's a super hot track! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
good morning! i'm sure by now most of you have heard the newly released michael jackson track this is it - which also happens to be the name of what was supposed to be his comeback show - and has now been turned into a movie after his untimely death this past june (using all the rehearsal footage taken) opening in theaters for two weeks starting on october 28th (i already have tickets to see it on october 30th) the song is decent enough - he does sound great - i totally teared up a little bit upon first listen ... it's still hard to believe he actually passed away! check out the song for yourself below - i'm curious to hear what everyone else thinks! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
good morning! a few weeks ago i posted the new mariah carey single - a cover of foreigner's classic track i want to know what love is - and now i've got a hot remix (by moto blanco) to help you get through the drone of monday ... ugh! (i'm so tired from kylielast night) i've been listening on and off to ms. carey's latest album memoirs of an imperfect angel which released last week - overall i do really like it but some of the tracks are a bit on the slow side - i still prefer her last album E=MC2 but this one is quite decent and she does sound incredible - her voice is unmatched! hopefully there will be plenty of dance remixes ... that's where mariah shines best! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning! i've been trying to cut down on listening to whitney houston's new album because i'm going to wear it out and i don't want to get sick of it - so i've tried to toss in a few other albums into my music mix - one of 'em being the sophomore effort from mika called the boy who knew too much (released last week) which i completely adore - i wasn't super keen on him when he first arrived on the scene but i've totally fallen in love with him as of late - i already posted the video for his first kick-ass single we are golden - now here's another excellent track to listen to called blame it on the girls - plus you can download the track over on one of my favorite music blogs arjan writes - arjan always has something tasty & fresh served up! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
good morning! a few months back i introduced you guys to this british chick lolene (join her on myspace) with her super infectious pop track boujis baby - now she's back here again after having just got signed to a major label (capitol/EMI) and her first official single sexy people is totally on fire - the cover below is hot! expect to see more of lolene here on popbytes - we're going to try and do a little interview over coffee very soon! below you'll find a hot remix of her song by aussie cutie sam sparro (pick up more remixes over on itunes) yes, sometimes it's hard to feel sexy on a monday - but we can try right?!? much love to all as always - popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning y'all and happy monday! i finally was able to stop listening to whitney houston's new album i look to you for a bit and i tossed on queen latifah's 7th studio album persona which was just released at the end of august - i've always liked her music but over the past few years she's been doing more acting (i loved chicago) and her last two albums were filled with decent jazz standards (her last hot album was 1998's order in the court) this time she goes back to her hip hop and rap roots (remember 1993's U.N.I.T.Y.?!? you ain't a bitch or ho) and i must say i really like it - it's great to hear ms. latifah laying down the hot rhymes once again! (mixed with a nice blend of pop and R&B) below you can have a listen to the track fast car featuring another fierce rap diva missy elliott (who seriously needs to put out another album soon - she's amazing) now on a personal note i'm off to pick up my car over in reseda ... can you believe it has been like two weeks since i dropped it off - car problems always seem to start out small and expand quickly! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

oh happy day! who cares that it's monday ... today happens to be the big release day for whitney houston's highly-anticipated (and overly delayed) comeback album i look to you! i've been listening to the album non-stop since it leaked last week ... initially i wasn't super keen on it but the album's a grower - i can't stop playing it now - i think it's really solid! i've been patiently waiting for this album for seven years now - and it turned out to be well worth the long wait! it's not overly ambitious and doesn't try to be super relevant - whitney does what she does best - she just sings some good ass songs - i know whitney fans will totally be pleased! plus as an added bonus ... she's off the whack crack and she's no longer married to mr. shady aka bobby brown (hell to the yes!) two of the best things that could have happened! expect a whitney media blitz soon - she's singing on good morning america on wednesday (september 2nd) and she'll be sitting down for an in-depth chat with oprah winfrey on september 14th! (oprah's season premiere) below you'll find a hot remix (from peter rauhofer) of her track i didn't know my own strength - and please pick up a copy of the album - we really need to bring ms. houston to the top of all the charts! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning y'all ... happy monday! i've already featured british electropop duo la roux a couple of times here on popbytes - and the other day someone sent me this totally smokin' remix from dolby anol of their track i'm not your toy which you can listen to and download below - plus there's a video of them performing the song live - there's something really relaxing about lead singer elly jackson's voice (she kicked serious ass when they played at the roxy) i'm hoping the band is on the brink of breaking out here in the states - they're super great! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning! last sunday it was whitney houston's 46th birthday - and a week later we had yet another diva's birthday - madonna turned 51 yesterday - it's hard to believe sometimes she's over fifty - it does seem like just yesterday when i was listening to like a virgin on vinyl - when i was eight ... that's like twenty-three years ago - a scary thought! (not as scary as her muscular arms) anyways ... madge is about to release another greatest hits album - thankfully there's two brand new tracks - the first being celebration which i totally love (buy it on itunes) you can check out a hot remix by benny benassi below - and make sure to pick up your copy of the album when it drops on september 29th! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo (oh lordy - i can't believe monday is already here!)

good morning! so yesterday was legendary diva whitney houston's 46th birthday and right now girlfriend has a lot to celebrate ... she's no longer a dirty crack whore ... she's not married to sketchy bobby brown anymore ... plus as a topper she's on the verge of her highly-anticipated and extremely long overdue comeback album i look to you which drops august 31st (just in time to make the cut for possible grammy nominations - pre-order it on itunes) a few weeks ago i had the extraordinary pleasure of attending a star-studded listening party here in los angeles and out of the nine tracks i heard - this one called million dollar bill (written by alicia keys) is one of the best the album has to offer - hell to the yes! i'm beyond thrilled she's back on the scene plus i'm super curious to see how her new material is received both critically and commercially! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
hey kids - oh happy monday (NOT!) so i've been hearing the name amanda blank (join her on myspace) for quite awhile now and just last week i had the chance to preview her new album i love you releasing tomorrow (august 4th) i was instantly sold on her - ms. blank is amazing! i must have listened to the album five or six times already - it's definitely in the running for my top albums of 2009! girlfriend hails from philly - she sings, raps and writes ... a totally super hot & deadly combination! thanks to my pal sheena beaston i found out she's stopping by los angeles on august 27th - i simply must be at the show - i seriously can't wait to see her play live! check out her smokin' single might like you better below (i'm sure the song's sentiment rings true for many people ... myself included) and you can download it for free by visiting RCRD LBL! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
good morning! i'm definitely feeling a little drained from last night but i did manage to get a decent night's sleep - grace jones killed it last night at the hollywood bowl - she put on an incredible show (with more costume changes than beyoncé!) anyways right now i want you to listen to this amazing dance anthem i discovered over the weekend called insecurities by the always awesome junior vasquez featuring maxi j on vocals - this song totally brings me back to like 94/95 when i was clubbing in NYC (at places that sadly don't exist anymore like club USA and the palladium) ok now i just need to figure out how i can make it through today - oh monday ... why must you come so soon? i'll never be able to get over how short the weekend really is! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
good morning! so back in june i had the pleasure of attending a small and intimate industry showcase for carmen reece (a sexy new dance/pop diva who hails from the UK - join her on myspace) here in hollywood where she performed a couple of songs - i thought she was really great live - totally high energy coupled with an amazing voice! at the end carmen performed her first single right here (available on itunes) the song has been stuck in my head for a couple of weeks now ... i simply had to feature it here on popbytes! below you'll find some video i shot of ms. reece along with a fresh hot remix from dave aude available for your listening pleasure - popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning! i'm super excited about this post ... i've been dying to feature one of my new favorite bands - fritz helder and the phantoms (join 'em on myspace / follow 'em on twitter) they've gathered quite a following up in toronto and now they're ready to take the states by storm! the band is the first act to be signed to nelstar - nelly furtado's record label - girlfriend was in town last week to introduce them at their first show here in los angeles (over at cinespace - on friday the band played at mr. black in NYC) i'm so glad i decided to go (i hate describing music but if were forced to - i'd say the vibe is electro pop rock disco glam) they were amazing live - as the band was playing - i decided to tweet a picture of 'em accompanied with the message 'fritz helder and the phantoms are like my new favorite band' - as i was composing the message - the main lead singer started saying 'are you texting? are you texting?' ... i looked up and he was looking right at me! i probably turned bright red as i quickly told them i was twittering about how they're my new fave band ... for the rest of the show - i did not twitter and kept my attention completely focused on the performance at hand! below you'll find the sexy video for their first single lagerfeld lady - along with a remix of the song by dragonette and make sure to pick up their debut album greatest hits: platinum edition which was just released on july 7th - i haven't been able to stop listening to it! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
PS i almost forgot - check out this video shout out the band made for popbytes!
good morning! last week the very first single off whitney houston's highly-anticipated comeback album i look to you (releasing september 1st) leaked onto the web - now as much as i love ms. houston i'm finding myself in the middle of the road when it comes to her new song i didn't know my own strength (have listen below) it's fairly decent but i was expecting something really splashy ... rather than a 'i was fucked up but now i'm better' ballad! although she sounds great - something is missing - her vocals are not what they used to be but i guess that's to be expected after all the damage she did to her voice - thank heavens she's finally left all that drama - and bobby brown behind - oh hell to the yes! i'm hoping there will be some hot remixes of this song made available - i do think it could make a great dance track! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning! after listening to michael jackson non-stop since his untimely death this past thursday - i simply had to post this incredible megamix i came across featuring sixteen of his best tracks all mixed into one amazing medley! the past few days have been beyond surreal - i certainly never thought mr. jackson's passing would affect me as much as it has - i've been really sad & reflective over the past few days but on the other hand listening to all his music and watching his videos has definitely put a smile on my face - he'd totally want us to celebrate - rather than mourn! i know he's in a better place right now - i can't thank him enough for all that he left us - my gosh - his musical legacy is truly legendary! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning! next week (june 30th) electronica hipster moby is releasing his 9th studio album wait for me which i've had the pleasure of listening to over the past few weeks (there's a quote below from moby talking about the album which in part was inspired by one of my kooky favorite directors david lynch - he also directed the video for the album's first single shot in the back of the head) the album is quite decent - a bit more on the chill side than his previous disco-esque dance album last night - slightly dark and very personal in tone - it's perfect music for lounging out on a lazy sunday afternoon (oh i miss the weekend already!) below is the newly released animated video (with drawings by moby himself) for the second single pale horses along with a fresh remix for your listening pleasure (the track features haunting vocals from moby's pal amelia zirin brown) plus you can download another remix over on rcrdlbl.com! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

"I started working on the album about a year ago, and the creative impetus behind the record was hearing a David Lynch speech at BAFTA, in the UK. David was talking about creativity, and to paraphrase, about how creativity in and of itself, and without market pressures, is fine and good. It seems as if too often an artists or musicians or writers creative output is judged by how well it accommodates the marketplace, and how much market share it commands and how much money it generates. In making this record I wanted to focus on making something that I loved, without really being concerned about how it might be received by the marketplace. As a result it's a quieter and more melodic and more mournful and more personal record than some of the records I've made in the past." - Moby
