oh my word! i said i wouldn’t do a post about american idol on twitter – but on second thought (after i calmed down – if you guys saw me – you might have called 911) i figured i should at least post something – i’m beyond disappointed and bummed that adam lambert lost tonight to kris allen – hands down mr. lambert is a far better singer and overall performer than mr. allen! i can’t help but think that homophobia played some part in tonight’s results – obviously adam is gay – kris happens to be a southern ‘christian’ boy – it just makes me upset to even think stuff like that affected voting yet i know it did (plus i doubt producers want to deal with possible right-wing protests over a gay idol) i never get up on a soapbox here on popbytes – but i do think that everyone needs to live and let live – i’m not asking for special rights/privileges – i just want to be able to live my life without feeling like a 2nd class citizen! i still don’t really get why some people still have such a problem with gays & lesbians? (there’s many more way important issues than someone’s sexuality) in the end – i know adam lambert has an amazing career ahead of him – plus he won’t be held to the constraints of being the ‘idol’ winner – i seriously can’t wait for his debut album – his sales are bound to outdo anything mr. allen puts out! popbytes over & out for tonight – much love to all as always – especially everyone who was so very kind to me on both twitter & facebook – it’s great having the support! xoxo

    Well said, Michael! I have an idea – let’s all buy Adam’s music on itunes (even though those AI bastards get the money :( maybe us Adam fans can make a difference this way. I want Adam to get an awesome record deal – he is the most amazing performer and talent…go Adam! I’m downloading his tunes right now.

    Oh, and I’m also downloading Adam’s videos right now too. C’mon peeps, let’s show those producers we’ll all spend $$ on Adam. He deserves a hella record deal.

    Amen, MK!!!! I honestly don’t know if homophobia played a role — it may just have been that stupid teenage girls liked Kris’s schtick and were scared by Adam’s performance art. I think Kris got the Danny Gokey vote once Danny was gone. Regardless, Adam is obviously the most talented, and anyone with any sense knows that. At least now he won’t be so hindered by the Idol contract and can do cooler stuff.

    I, too, couldn’t believe that Kris one…it was crazy….I rooted for Kris just to goof around with my mom (she’s a HUGE Adam fan), but I really didn’t expect him to win.
    This decision really says something about the people either in our country or the people that run Idol…they are afraid of having a gay Idol. It’s sad really. TMZ has also run amok with anti-gay comments, and everyone I’ve talked to said that they were in complete shock that Kris won. Also, I can’t believe that people are calling sour grapes on this one. It’s when you KNOW that someone is going to win, that makes you think that there are other forces it work when they don’t.
    Even Simon Cowell said that Kris didn’t have what it takes to compete with the likes of Adam….and he was right….So sad…

    At the end of the day, they both have great voices. I don’t think one voice is necessarily better than the other – their voices are so different. I would gladly buy both of their albums.
    But, I do agree with you that Adam is an “Idol.” Mainly because he brings more than a voice to his performance. He brings confidence, style, personality and a great attitude. I hate to say that you’re probably right about other factors influencing people’s votes. I can honestly say that it didn’t influence me in the least. Adam’s my idol too!

    i went to collegel in the little town of conway arkansas so i am pretty confident with what i’m saying. although conway is a tiny arkansas town its not as closed minded and conservative as you may think. hendrix college is located there and often times has 30% GLBT students each year, which is a very high percentage compared to other schools in the nation.. many students from all over the U.S come there knowing they’ll be accepted for their beliefs and liefstyles. i voted for chris and adam every week until it was obvious i had to choose a favorite, and that’s when i started to only vote for chris. b/c i think its great that someone can come from such a small town so far frrom the possibilities to make it big and then MAKE IT BIG. so don’t be closed minded on your end and think chris won b/c of the homophobs out there. he won b/c he appealed to alot of people for whatever reason but not necessarily b/c he is straight and doesn’t paint his fingernails

    I really don’t think it’s fair to say homophobia played a large role in Adam not winning. I’m gay and almost everything about Adam turned me off, mostly his screeching voice and his terrible hairstyle. I think the fact that he, and not to mention Clay Aiken in season two, got that far in the competition says that homophobia wasn’t the main reason he lost. I know plenty of people who shared my same thoughts. I’m not saying that people didn’t like him because he was gay, I’m sure some did… but I don’t think his losing warranted that rant.

    Yes, Adam will be successful, but seriously, success is not what his win would have represented. Adam’s loss raises many questions.
    For the first time in Idol history, Simon Cowell did NOT stand up when Kris was crowned because he was upset.
    To say that Adam’s sexuality had nothing to do with his loss is idealistic.

    Wow. I could only read as far as you thinking he wasn’t named American Idol because he’s gay and that’s not the case. He sucks. Plan and simple. Just because he’s a queer doesn’t mean that’s why he didn’t win because if that was the case Ellen wouldn’t have a show. http://www.rickey.org/?p=16488 That link shows that Kris is higher in sales than Adam.     It’s your problem, maybe you haven’t voted that much! They’re both winners already, it just happened that Kris was likened by more people than adam. There’s nothing to do with their religion or their sexuality, you thinking like you have a small brain. Think more! and you’ll understand. Not everyone agrees with you. But, what can you expect from a gossip blog??
