RENEE ZELLWEGER - HASTY PUDDING WOMAN OF '09!

good evening! today renee zellweger was honored by the hasty pudding theatricals as the 2009 woman of the year (the man of the year is cutie james franco) the group was first formed on the campus of harvard university back in 1795! (here's more on the group's history) every year they select someone who has left a 'lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment' and parade them through the streets of cambridge (which must be quite cold right now) i think ms. zellweger was an excellent choice - she's a great actress but i have zero desire to see her latest flick new in town which looks like a total stinker (i hate how the commercial uses the quote 'bridget jones moves to fargo' - what a lame line!) the first woman of the year award was handed out back in 1951 to gertrude lawrence (who died a year later) and bob hope was the first man honored in 1967 - every year the group also puts on a show (a tradition started in 1844) where men play all parts (even the female ones) this year's production (#161) is entitled acropolis - i bet it's probably a hoot seeing all those stuffy harvard types get all crazy! popbytes over & out for now...xoxo
