guy ritchie drank too much (i should too…)

good evening y’all! today was a really weird day – on one hand i’m super excited & elated about new president-elect barack obama – but on the other hand i’m so very disappointed, sad, and angry about proposition 8 (aka proposition hate) passing in the state of california which is unfortunately a huge step backward! i can’t believe that what the high courts deemed as unfair & discriminatory was allowed to be voted on by the public – when was the last time you remember getting to vote on revoking somebody else’s rights?!? equality is a right – not a privilege! (people who hide behind the bible or claim this is all in the name of religion disgust me to no end) and finally please don’t even get me started on all the millions of dollars poured into this effort – it’s a total shame – there’s seriously many more important & pressing issues to focus on other than denying gay people the right to marry (and like marriage is so fucking sacred & lily white in this country to begin with…ugh) i hope & pray this somehow works out – this is definitely not the end of this…far from it (we can start by signing this petition – thanks to my longtime pal melissa for the heads up – she has been fervent in her fight against prop 8)

phew – enough about that – right now i actually can’t even think about the issue anymore – i’m so over hearing about the election already – i need to tune it all out – at least for tonight! thankfully tomorrow night i’m heading down to dodger stadium to catch madonna on her sticky & sweet tour which i’m hoping will provide a much needed fun diversion – plus i took off from work on friday since i know i’ll be way tired! word also broke earlier this evening that both britney spears and justin timberlake will be joining her on stage tomorrow – oh my word – this could be the reunion we’ve all been dying to see – i can’t wait to see what transpires!

while madge is out finishing up her world tour – it looks like her soon to be ex-hubby guy ritchie is really enjoying himself – maybe a little too much – he appeared to be a bit drunk & tipsy while leaving his london pub the punch bowl after celebrating guy fawkes night in the pictures posted below – yet he’s still way adorable – i think madonna is a fool for ditching him (for alex rodriguez of all people – ugh!) anyways i didn’t intend this post to be a rant on prop 8 but i’m glad i got it off my chest – i feel a drop better after going off for a bit – thanks for listening! popbytes over & out for tonight…xoxo

Hey love! I linked to that petition on Evil Beet. These results are so hurtful and hateful, but the fight is far from over. We’re not giving up, baby. :)

prop 8 won because of a shamelessly deceptive advertising campaign which insisted that children would be “taught gay marriage” in schools. people construed that as having gay marriage taught to their kids as the only acceptable form of marriage, when, in fact, marriage isn’t “taught” at all in california schools, gay or otherwise. it was a ridiculous precept designed to frighten both the small-minded and the undecided, and worked because it was bolstered by a large contingent of bigots who, for some unfathomable reason, are so interested in what OTHER people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms that they feel they have the right and even the NEED to legislate it. ugh. as a heterosexual californian who voted no, no, no!, i humbly apologize for those in my state who feel compelled to project their “be like me!” sensibilities onto an entire group of people who just want the simple freedom to marry the partner they love.

    Westwood,
You say it wouldn’t be taught in school and that sounds legit, but in fact some teacher in SF took her 1rst grade class to city hall to watch a lesbian wedding. Not sure if it was hers or someone else’s. I think that had a hand in the support for it. It was all over the news here that she took the kids to view a lesbian wedding for a field trip. I think part of the blame should go to her to do that so soon before the election or even after. You said it’s private and in the bedroom; so why would anyone care? Well, she made people care…
