everyone loves the muppets along with the man behind the magic - creator jim henson who sadly passed away back in 1990 at the age of 53 - yet the muppets will never cease to exist (long live miss piggy & kermit the frog!) i worshiped them as a kid (oh the muppets take manhattan!) and i still love anything to do with 'em (i can't wait for the new muppets movie which is currently in the works) there's an exhibit running over in washington DC at the smithsonian called jim henson's fantastic world (running through october 5th) which looks to be an amazing retrospect that i'd personally love to see (mr. henson was the creative genius behind a lot more than just the muppets...)
a few weeks ago this mahna mahna tune got stuck in my head and i couldn't figure out where it was from - finally it dawned on me...it was featured on the muppet show (and sesame street) watch it for yourself yet be warned it's addictive (the pink snowths (pictured below) on backup are adorable) i've been trying to get my parrot max to pick up the tune but no luck as of yet! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo
organized with the jim henson legacy, jim henson's fantastic world offers audiences a rare peek into the imagination of this brilliant innovator and creator of kermit, big bird, and other beloved characters. the exhibition documents henson's process of "visual thinking" through works of art, photographs, documents, puppets and other 3-d objects, and film and video clips.
Looks like a cool exhibit! I love the Muppet Christmas Carol. It's actually a semi-faithful adaptation of the story...with muppets! And Michael Caine!

Henson is one of my heroes, too! His genius has inspired so many people and will hopefully continue to - so buy original Muppet show and Sesame Street DVDs for all your friends with kids and indoctrinate them early!
