good evening! i’m a total sucker for most pop culture collectibles (which my mom would probably classify as junk…) and this one is no exception – mattel is releasing a limited edition barbie set of both the king of rock & roll elvis presley and his one-time bride priscilla presley (retailing for about $75) whom he married back on may 1st 1967 when priscilla was just twenty-one years old (elvis was 32 at the time) the detailed barbies depict the couple back on that happy day – they divorced six years later in ’73 (lisa marie was their only child born in ’68) and the king passed away in ’77 – this coming saturday marks the 31st anniversary of his untimely & unfortunate death at age 42 – if elvis was still alive today he would have turned 73 this year! (oh my gosh i totally feel like ‘factoid sally’ tonight) popbytes over & out for now…xxoo
