michael caine got cemented!

good evening! earlier this morning legendary actor michael caine was honored by hollywood – immortalizing his hand & footprints in cement in front of grauman’s chinese theatre! seriously – this guy has done it all…just look at his IMDB page (he’s also a two-time oscar winner and was nominated four other times!) at age 75 he’s still working today and stars as ‘alfred’ (batman’s butler) in the dark knight which releases next week! he also predicts that late actor heath ledger will receive an academy award nomination for playing ‘the joker’ – gosh i can’t wait to see the film – all the reviews have been super stellar! there’s a bunch of pictures below from the ceremony that i took along with my pal ken – who nabbed some awesome shots! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo

beyonce wouldn’t approve of this…

oh good evening boys & girls! i’m thrilled today is drawing to a close – it was just one of those ugh days – and thank heavens tomorrow is friday (i’m doing something pretty cool tomorrow afternoon which i’ll be filling you all in on soon!) anyways as i was leaving work tonight i noticed something was going down on hollywood blvd but i couldn’t quite tell what it was – now i know and i don’t think beyonce would be pleased about it…right next to the grauman’s chinese theatre a brand new $55 million dollar madame tussauds wax museum is being built (i’ve kept a close eye on its progress since i work right across the street – it’s due to open next spring) and tonight was the official announcement with LA mayor antonio villaraigosa overseeing the ceremony where two new wax figures were unveiled – beyonce and jamie foxx – i do love ms. knowles (who has been keeping a low profile lately) but her waxy doppelganger is awful – the hair looks so cheap – i don’t like her armpit pose at all – it’s just all around wrong – somebody must agree with me?!?

if someone wanted to make my likeness out of wax – i would totally need to have final approval! i think beyonce needs to get on the horn with the madame of wax! having the museum on the block will be nice – before it was just an ugly parking lot – hollywood blvd has come so far since i’ve lived here – it’s a lot less shady! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo

holly hunter is a hollywood blvd star!

good evening everybody! normally i get to catch most of the ceremonies along hollywood blvd when a new celebrity star is revealed but unfortunately this morning i missed one of my favorite actresses – ms. holly hunter being bestowed with the 2,363rd star along ‘the walk of fame’ – i was completely shocked to find out she didn’t already have one – let’s not forget ms. hunter is an academy award winner (for her amazing work in 1993′s the piano) plus she’s a two-time emmy winner! steven spielberg, kate capshaw, ed harris, and billie jean king were on hand today to help holly celebrate the honor! at age 50 she still looks way fabulous – ms. hunter has always been a little offbeat and kooky but that’s what i love about her! i hope y’all are enjoying your friday night – right now i’m just chilling out which is exactly what i needed to do! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo

sean ‘diddy’ combs gets his blvd star

hey hey! here are a few pictures i just snapped of sean ‘diddy’ combs getting the 2,362nd star along hollywood blvd’s infamous walk of fame (it was massively crowded down there and people were waving balloons and signs like crazy people – plus it’s pretty hot outside so i didn’t stay for long) he’s actually the first male rap artist to be honored with a star – i’m not overly crazy about mr. combs but he doesn’t really bother me either – gosh remember when he was with jennifer lopez (who could forget that sexy green versace dress she wore to the grammys back in 2000 while on his arm) it seems like ages ago – oh my word time totally flies – in fact it’s already time for me to eat some lunch! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo

neil diamond was on the roof next door

hey hey! this afternoon at work while sitting at my desk all of a sudden i hear the classic song sweet caroline blasting outside – as we all jumped to the window – there’s legendary singer & songwriter neil diamond on the roof of the el capitan theatre with late-night talk show host jimmy kimmel who was decked out in a sequined vest with a white scarf – and serenading the growing crowd below – i’ll have to tune-in tonight to see what all the roof action was about! tomorrow night mr. diamond will be mentoring the final five on american idol – i’m not a huge fan of mr. diamond’s but he has written a number of great songs – a total american music icon! many thanks go out to my buddy aaron (full of conspiracy theories & lively conversation!) at work for snapping the pictures below since i was due at a meeting – and neil diamond on the roof next door was not a good excuse to skip! i love living & working right in hollywood – there’s always something random going on! popbytes over & out for tonight…xxoo!

angela bassett gets a hollywood blvd star!

hey hey! check out a few pictures i just snapped moments ago of actress angela bassett getting the 2,358th star along hollywood blvd’s walk of fame! i love ms. bassett – especially in her golden globe winning and oscar nominated performance as legendary tina turner in what’s love got to do with it? on hand to help ms. bassett celebrate today were laurence fishburne, forest whitaker and rick fox (who stars in the new movie meet the browns along w/ ms. bassett) she was glowing – and so beautiful in person – forest’s speech was so touching it had angela in tears – he’s an excellent speaker (then mr. fox had to speak and it paled in comparison…) enjoy the pics below! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!

a rainbow over hollywood!

good evening! today was another crappy weather day here in los angeles – and around 2pm – it poured heavily for a few minutes – then all of a sudden the sun came out – i raced to the window at work – and there was a beautiful rainbow cast over hollywood blvd just as i suspected there might be! (i’m taking the colorful spectrum as a sign that it could be sunny here on sunday) luckily i was able to snap a few pictures before it vanished – plus i took more pics of the whole oscar set-up – the awards are less than 48 hours away! tonight i’m taking it easy while cooking up some of my delicious asparagus soup – and tomorrow i’m sleeping late! popbytes over & out for tonight…xxoo!

cloverfield invades hollywood!

QUICK UPDATE! as expected eddie izzard was great – he’s so damn clever & witty – the show was completely sold out – unfortunately the seats were really uncomfortable (it was at the coronet theatre near the beverly center) so i found myself being a bit shifty but i’m so glad i decided to go – i’ll write more about his ‘work in progress’ showcase in a few days!

good evening everybody! oh i’m dying to go see cloverfield which just opened in theaters yesterday – from the reviews and word of mouth – i think it’s going to be a smash hit – it looks awesome & really scary! i’m trying not to read too much about it until i see it – probably next weekend – over at the grauman’s chinese theatre here in hollywood (where the sound system kicks ass) they’ve had a statue of liberty with her head blown off set up in front of the place for a few days now – there’s a few pictures below which i snapped!

tonight i’m super excited to go see comedian/actor eddie izzard working on his one-man show – it’s kinda like a workshop – and he’s only doing it a few times – it should be a great show! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo! (when i get home i’ll update this post with a few thoughts on mr. izzard’s show)

is the writers’ strike over?!?

many thanks to my pal JAM who sent over this joint statement from a bunch of entertainment CEOs – which will hopefully signals the end of the writers’ strike! i certainly pray it’s all over – if it were to continue – television would start to seem bleaker than it already is! i’ve been feeling super uneasy about all this strike business (along with a looming recession!) i hope everyone is happy with the deal – so here’s to people going back to work again – cheers! popbytes over & out for tonight…xxoo! (woo hoo…tomorrow is friday!)

PS i think i was reading too much into this statement – this is only an appeal to get talks going again! oh my word – this so needs to be resolved ASAP!

The agreement between the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television
Producers and the Directors Guild of America establishes an important precedent: Our industry’s creative talent will now participate financially in every emerging area of new media. The agreement demonstrates beyond any doubt that our industry’s producers are willing and able to work with the creators of entertainment content to establish fair and flexible rules for this fast-changing marketplace.

We hope that this agreement with DGA will signal the beginning of the end of this extremely difficult period for our industry. Today, we invite the Writers Guild of America to engage with us in a series of informal discussions similar to the productive process that led us to a deal with the DGA to determine whether there is a reasonable basis for returning to formal bargaining. We look forward to these discussions, and to the day when our entire industry gets back to work.

will smith – now cemented in hollywood!

hey hey! just a few minutes ago will smith immortalized his hand and footprints along w/ his signature in cement right across the street in front of grauman’s chinese theatre (check out the pictures i snapped below!) guess who was in attendance? yup his buddy tom cruise was there – but there was no sign of katie holmes (i suppose it’s too early in the day for her to be let out…) of course whenever of these ceremonies happen – it’s always tied in with something – and mr. smith has a new movie coming out i am legend which opens this week (dec 14th) and actually looks pretty decent! i didn’t see his wife jada pinkett-smith but there was a bunch of people there so sometimes it’s hard to spot everyone! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!
