It’s got that classic soul hipswing vibe to it, and it was just begging to be combined with lots of stuff. And I got my wish! By now, you’re probably sick of hearing Foster The People‘s Pumped Up Kicks, right? But there are so few mashes with one of the biggest singles of summer 2011! At least good ones – so that changes right here. But, the other good news about this week’s blend is that it features another fave newcomer of mine: Dev! Her Dancing In The Dark has been firmly planted in my brain the last few weeks. Mixmeister Marc Johnce also throws in Mayra Verónica, Salt ‘N Pepa, and Jessie & The Toy Boys on this dance floor winner.

Just for you, from the hot ‘n sweat environs of Los Angeles, it’s a dark and haunting mashup of epic proportions. It’s pretty rare to hear blends featuring Interpol, let alone The XX. Well, this one marries both like a cinematic masterpiece. Greece’s Bynar places the vocals of Interpol’s Obstacle 1 atop a remix of The XX’s Intro, with bits of The Freestylers and Arctic Monkeys. And the result has an alluring yet buzzing, dubstep-lite wobble. Even if you don’t know the sources used here, sonic bliss awaits.
