good evening everyone! so today i had one of those semi-depressing days where i didn't feel like doing much of anything except watching TV and napping (along with playing the new spooky game condemned 2: bloodshot on my xbox) i think sometimes after being so busy during the week i simply need to unwind and decompress - hopefully i'll get out of the house tomorrow and do something fun! anyways tonight i've got dame helen mirren featured on the cover of the latest issue (april '08) of more magazine (which celebrates women over forty) hands down ms. mirren at age 62 is one of the best actresses and classiest ladies around and took home a well-deserved best actress oscar last year for her portrayal of 'queen elizabeth II' in the queen (a fabulous movie if you haven't seen it) you'll find a few choice quotes from helen below! right now i'm watching the real housewives of NYC which probably isn't helping my depressive state - all those gals are way annoying (their accents alone are driving me insane) i liked the housewives from orange county a lot more! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo!

hey everyone! i live for life's small guilty pleasures - and i discovered a new one this week when for some reason (against all better judgment) i bought the new danity kane album welcome to the dollhouse (which is expected to be #1 this week in sales) it's the follow-up to their debut self-titled album released back in 2006 (and reached #1) after their group was formed on p. diddy's (or sean combs...i can't keep track of what he's calling himself these days) MTV reality show making the band 3 i thought their first single showstopper wasn't bad but i certainly didn't think they'd be releasing another album yet i was wrong and i have to admit i've listened to it a couple of times already and it's actually a pretty decent pop/r&b/dance record - especially their hot first single (which is now stuck in my head) damaged (the video is posted below) the song was dropped back at the end of january but didn't catch my attention until this week and i'm so glad it did! right i've got another total guilty pleasure playing over on the television - keeping up with the kardashians - the whole family is kooky but in a totally lovable way! i hope everyone is enjoying their friday evening - i'm so sleeping late tomorrow! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo!

hey everybody! of course i've heard about the upcoming angelina jolie action-packed flick wanted (which also stars cutie jame mcavoy (from atonement) and morgan freeman) but i didn't actually watch the trailer until tonight - and hot damn it looks freakin' awesome (you can catch it below if you haven't already) i don't know why i didn't watch it sooner - shame on me! (of course we've all been tricked by trailers before...i sincerely hope this is not one of those times) the movie is loosely based on the comic book series of the same name written by mark millar (with art by jg jones) and is directed by timur bekmambetov - i think it could be the hot movie of the summer which is right around the corner (today happens to be the start of spring) ms. jolie is brilliant in action films - i absolutely lovedmr. & mrs. smith (the film that brought brangelina together) however i sadly doubt angelina will be doing a lot of press appearances in support of the film (which opens on june 27th) she'll be much closer to having her supposed fraternal twin babies - a boy & a girl! good evening! i've got the latest cover of national enquirer tonight which is featuring oprah winfrey's weight gain (she's supposedly gone from 146lbs to 246lbs - an 'estimated' gain of one hundred pounds) there's been rumors of trouble over in 'oprahdi$e' for months now - stedman graham and ms. winfrey could be calling it quits after over twenty years of being together (since 1986) the 'final showdown' has apparently sent oprah into a feeding frenzy causing her to pack on a few extra pounds! if there's real trouble - i bet the stress comes from figuring out how much money he'll maybe get if the relationship fizzles out plus i'm sure oprah doesn't wanting stedman writing a book or flapping his mouth to the press about their time together yet i'd be very surprised if he actually did that - he's always appeared to be a true gentleman and a stand up kinda guy!

good morning & happy st. patrick's day - don't forget to wear green! this week i'm switching up my 'monday .mp3' column a bit simply because i'm totally enamored with 'soul pop' welsh singer duffy (join her on myspace) who i've posted about on here before - right now there's a ton of things going on with her that i thought was worthy of sharing with you all! she just played her first gig in the states at SXSW and she's also playing a sold out show at NYC's hiro ballroom tonight - oh i'd kill to be in the audience! i should have taken my ass down to austin TX to see duffy live but unfortunately i don't have a ton of vacation time yet i'm sure she'll make it out to los angeles at some point...
duffy's debut album rockferry was released earlier this month overseas and will hit the states on may 18th! (last week her hit UK single mercy was the free itune of the week which you can still download) over the weekend i was determined to find her album which i did and i'm happy to report it's just as excellent as i thought it might be! below are a few pictures of her performing at the levi's/fader fort party along with a video of her doing a stripped down version of mercy (also catch her doing an incredible cover of hot chip's ready for the floor) plus there's links to my previous posts on her (the mercy remix is killer) i bet duffy is going to be huge this year - easily a grammy nominee for best new artist! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
who else watched saturday night live last night? it wasn't the best episode ever but the one part that had me seriously cracking up (besides the 'weekly update' bit) was the latest 'digital short' (which is usually funny) featuring host jonah hill telling cast member andy samberg he was dating andy's dad ben samberg - at first i couldn't tell where the skit was headed but then i just started laughing (the tongue action is hilarious) plus andy is so damn adorable - gosh i love him! as for musical guest ms. mariah carey - i think she was a wee bit rusty last night - girlfriend needs to practice her new track touch my body live a few more times...the lyrics go by so fast and i thought she was going to mess it all up but mariah managed to get through it! ms. carey also debuted a new song migrate featuring a guest appearance by rapper t-pain - i'd have to hear the track a couple of more times before i pass judgment - however mimi did look superb - she has totally slimmed down - her body was bangin' (she'll never be the prettiest girl in the room but she works the cards dealt to her plus i'm sure she has gone under the knife once or twice...) popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo!
hey kids! remember back in november i posted a story about an upcoming photo shoot with kate moss that involved flowers? basically V magazine and SHOWstudio were asking people to send in flowers that might be used in the shoot - well the pictures have arrived (without any actual flowers) in the latest issue of V (the one with the always glamorous gwen stefanion the cover) below are a few of the shots taken by photographer nick knight where ms. moss is doing her best wildflower impressions (of course her nipple had to sneak into three of of the four pictures below...) kate is one of my favorite models to post on - not only is she stunningly gorgeous - she's also been known to be scandalous and messy plus we both share the same birthday (january 16th) i suppose the only model who comes close to being as beautiful and messy of course is naomi campbell who is probably taking it easy right now after being released a few weeks ago from a brazilian hospital where she underwent emergency surgery - hopefully soon she'll have the strength to get back to terrorizing her assistants! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
