good evening! i finally got around to watching atonement this afternoon which is fairly new to DVD (the film garnered 7 academy award nominations including best picture) i wasn't overly excited to watch it but oh my gosh - i freakin' LOVED it! the film held my attention the entire time - i thought the performances were excellent and the oscar-winning score was beautifully haunting! i also didn't realize legendary actress vanessa redgrave had a small part in the film - she should have been nominated for best supporting actress - ms. redgrave doesn't have a lot of screen time but she blew me away in the last few minutes of the film! of course being a sometimes over emotional person i totally had a nervous breakdown by the time everything was said and done - oh my gosh i so wished i had seen atonement in the theaters (although crying in public can be embarassing) i liked it way better than no country for old men which walked off with the best picture oscar earlier this year! if you haven't seen it already - i can't recommend it enough! i certainly didn't expect to like it as much as i actually did yet that's how it usually goes for me...the films that get me all pumped up usually disappoint and the ones i don't have much interest in seeing always surprise me! anyways i hope everyone is enjoying their weekend - popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo!

good morning! although the latest cover of STAR magazine is a little on the over dramatic side (as per usual - let's not forget it's a cover designed to sell) i totally believe that katie holmes isn't well - her body and mind are finally caving in from the pressure of being a scientologist 'stepford' wife to tom cruise which must simply be unbearable at times...could you deal with mr. cruise on a 24/7 basis?!? his devilish creepy laugh alone would have me jumping out the window after only a few hours (plus the poor thing doesn't even seem to have any close friends - her one-time BFF victoria beckham has since moved on)

good morning! next tuesday (april 1st) moby drops his ninth studio album last night and right now i am loving the second single off the album disco lies which happened to be featured during the party scene in cloverfield (a hugely disappointing flick if you ask me...) below i've got a super hot remix of the song (that features an anonymous kick-ass female singer) along with the video which you must watch - it tells the story of a baby chicken who sees his chick friends being slaughtered and escapes only to return ten years later to exact his revenge...it's almost enough to make me go vegetarian! hey hey! earlier today i came across the trailer (thanks to my pal JAM) for the new harmony korine film mister lonely (co-written by harmony's brother avi korine) although he's a bit of a dirty bird type character (one of my friends used to work with him and he had some crazy ass stories) i've really enjoyed mr. korine's work especially 1997's gummo which is such a deliciously filthy film (by 'filthy' i mean literal filth aka dust & grime - just watch the trailer) which starred his ex-girlfriend chloë sevigny who also was in his second (very bizarre) film 99's julien donkey-boy (harmony originally burst onto the scene back in 1995 as the writer of kids)
now after almost nine long years we've got mister lonely his third film (delayed due to funding and issues with drugs...) that tells the tale of a michael jackson impersonator played by cutie diego luna (remember y tu mamá también?) who befriends a marilyn monroe impersonator (samantha morton) and she takes him to a secluded haven where everyone is dressed up as a famous someone and they all put on shows together...i know it sounds completely wacky (and probably is just like the jackson clan who are finding themselves in a deep funk at the moment...) but something about the film seems really endearing & kinda sweet plus there's flying nuns! (of course i've embedded the trailer below) the limited US IFC release of the film kicks off on may 2nd - i'll definitely have to go see it out of plain ol' curiosity! hey everyone! i live for life's small guilty pleasures - and i discovered a new one this week when for some reason (against all better judgment) i bought the new danity kane album welcome to the dollhouse (which is expected to be #1 this week in sales) it's the follow-up to their debut self-titled album released back in 2006 (and reached #1) after their group was formed on p. diddy's (or sean combs...i can't keep track of what he's calling himself these days) MTV reality show making the band 3 i thought their first single showstopper wasn't bad but i certainly didn't think they'd be releasing another album yet i was wrong and i have to admit i've listened to it a couple of times already and it's actually a pretty decent pop/r&b/dance record - especially their hot first single (which is now stuck in my head) damaged (the video is posted below) the song was dropped back at the end of january but didn't catch my attention until this week and i'm so glad it did! right i've got another total guilty pleasure playing over on the television - keeping up with the kardashians - the whole family is kooky but in a totally lovable way! i hope everyone is enjoying their friday evening - i'm so sleeping late tomorrow! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo!

hey everybody! of course i've heard about the upcoming angelina jolie action-packed flick wanted (which also stars cutie jame mcavoy (from atonement) and morgan freeman) but i didn't actually watch the trailer until tonight - and hot damn it looks freakin' awesome (you can catch it below if you haven't already) i don't know why i didn't watch it sooner - shame on me! (of course we've all been tricked by trailers before...i sincerely hope this is not one of those times) the movie is loosely based on the comic book series of the same name written by mark millar (with art by jg jones) and is directed by timur bekmambetov - i think it could be the hot movie of the summer which is right around the corner (today happens to be the start of spring) ms. jolie is brilliant in action films - i absolutely lovedmr. & mrs. smith (the film that brought brangelina together) however i sadly doubt angelina will be doing a lot of press appearances in support of the film (which opens on june 27th) she'll be much closer to having her supposed fraternal twin babies - a boy & a girl! good morning! finally we've got jennifer aniston caught in a tabloid scandal on the cover of the latest STAR magazine that doesn't involve brad pitt or angelina jolie (although angelina and shiloh are right next door on the cover glowing with 'fab new photos') it's such a refreshing change from the usual brangelina vs. jen drama and if true - it's kinda juicy! apparently ms. aniston has been getting cozy with her co-star (sometimes cutie) owen wilson down in miami where they're shooting marley and me together and i guess word got to his ex-girlfriend kate hudson who quickly got her ass down to miami to toss owen off of jen's 'i'm single' scent! there's been rumors of kate & owen reconciling - and jen would get in the way - at least in kate's eyes...gosh who doesn't enjoy talk of a love triangle - soapy drama at its best - i'd love to see a good cat fight between the two ladies!

good evening! madonna seems to be everywhere these days with the upcoming april 29th release of her 11th studio album hard candy i just picked up the latest interview magazine with madge on the cover looking like she's ready to kick our asses from the corner of a boxing ring (madonna also graces the new cover of dazed & confused) i thought there would be more of a spread on the inside but sadly there's only one other picture alongside her interview conducted by ingrid sischy (a few choice quotes are between the scans) there's also a brand new commercial (embedded below) out for sunsilk 'styling aids' featuring the first single off the album 4 minutes to save the world which features justin timberlake & timbaland - i'll admit the track is growing on me but i'm not nearly as excited for this album as i was for her last outing confessions on a dance floor which i totally fell in love with! i'm also not thrilled with her pimping out the single for shampoo - its not like she needs the money...it's a total jessica simpson move! although when she tours i'll overlook the whole sunsilk debacle - i can't wait to see her play live again!

hey kids! remember back in november i posted a story about an upcoming photo shoot with kate moss that involved flowers? basically V magazine and SHOWstudio were asking people to send in flowers that might be used in the shoot - well the pictures have arrived (without any actual flowers) in the latest issue of V (the one with the always glamorous gwen stefanion the cover) below are a few of the shots taken by photographer nick knight where ms. moss is doing her best wildflower impressions (of course her nipple had to sneak into three of of the four pictures below...) kate is one of my favorite models to post on - not only is she stunningly gorgeous - she's also been known to be scandalous and messy plus we both share the same birthday (january 16th) i suppose the only model who comes close to being as beautiful and messy of course is naomi campbell who is probably taking it easy right now after being released a few weeks ago from a brazilian hospital where she underwent emergency surgery - hopefully soon she'll have the strength to get back to terrorizing her assistants! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
hey hey! is everyone enjoying their weekend so far? i managed to get a little much needed retail therapy this afternoon plus i'm looking forward to tonight's SNL since mariah carey is the musical guest - i'm curious to see her perform her new addictive single touch my body (she just nabbed the gig this past week when janet jackson came down with the flu) as you may have heard already paris hilton is entering the reality TV ring once again with her new show coming up later this year on MTV called paris hilton's my new BFF where she'll scour the nation to find one person she can befriend for life and i guess trust with her most 'inner thoughts, dreams, and hope for world peace' (take that statement with a heavy dose of sarcasm) we all know how well relationships tend to work out after being set-up on reality TV...my word of advice to the winner is to snap some pictures of paris doing something naughty and then sell 'em when she drops you! no doubt that if the shows does well in the ratings we will be subjected to many more seasons of paris hunting for 'true' friendship...ugh!

good morning and happy friday! last night my pal jordy sent me over this hilarious clip from funny lady chelsea handler's late night talk show chelsea lately which airs on E! hey hey! as promised below are a few more pictures along with two videos from the incredible sheryl crow show this past tuesday night - it was amazing to see her play live in such a small and cool venue as el rey theatre...except the lady who deals with the line outside is out of her freakin' mind - don't ever bring gum there because they'll make you spit it out and force you to throw your whole pack away! (there's carpet inside - so i'm sure they don't want that mucking up the floor) but you can bring cameras - woo hoo!
this was one of three nights of a mini-tour ms. crow is doing in support of her kick-ass new album detours (the other two dates were february 6th & 7th at NYC's irving plaza's the fillmore - she'll be doing a larger tour as well) sheryl and her band of eight played for a little over 90 minutes which contained a lot of her new material (her latest album was produced by bill bottrell who also did sheryl's debut album tuesday night music club) mixed with a number of her standards like strong enough, if it makes you happy, leaving las vegas, soak up the sun, everyday is a winding road, my favorite mistake, all i wanna do plus covers of jackson browne's doctor my eyes, led zeppelin's rock and roll and the rolling stones' gimme shelter which she blended with her new track gasoline and was joined on stage by the amazing ben harper (who was in attendance with his wife laura dern - one of my favorite actresses of all-time!)
as soon as she hit the stage i immediately remembered how incredible ms. crow is live - tuesday night was certainly no exception - she's a little older & wiser (and a new mom to wyatt crow) yet seems to only be getting better with age - like a fine wine (tacky cliche alert!) anyways i must also give a quick shout-out to stephanie and anitra who i met at the show and we stood together and made sure to block anyone who tried to get in our way! good evening! i'm in total shock over the picture of a gaunt patrick swayze on the cover of the latest national enquirer...last week editor-in-chief david perel and his staff broke the very tragic news about mr. swayze battling pancreatic cancer with supposedly only weeks to live! now seeing a current picture - i doubt he has a long time left - and besides pancreatic cancer is one of the worst types to have - a distant relative of mine passed away not too long ago from the exact same cancer - she went downhill very quickly - and was only in her forties - so sad! the picture also shows him still smoking - word is that his cigarette habit was sometimes up to three packs a day - that's a shit load of smokes! i think i've told you before that i happen to be a smoker but i really keep thinking about quitting and pictures like the one below are worth a thousand words - i don't even physically enjoy it all that much - it's all up in my head and i need to start coming to terms with saying goodbye to the cancer sticks - it's a terribly dirty (and expensive) habit which i need to break...sooner rather than later

hey hey! before i get into this evening's post - i had to tell you that i was driving up la brea in hollywood this afternoon right by target (slightly south of santa monica blvd) and i noticed this guy crossing the street because of his pants which were really cute (gray slacks combined with a black sweatshirt that had a cool print on the back) as i drove past he was getting into his convertible black mercedes parked on the street and i looked over and it turned out to be jc chasez of 'n sync fame - he was totally adorable in person! hey hey! i just finished watching tonight's elimination round on american idol - i had to tivo it since i went to an advance screening of the foot fist way which i posted about the other night and as i suspected the film was hilarious - i really enjoyed it! (you'll for sure hear more about the film here on popbytes) yet i'm super bummed about danny noriega and asia'h epperson getting the boot tonight...however i'm thrilled that cheese ball luke menard and annoying girl kady malloy also left! they both completely annoyed me - i had them pegged to leave this week but i was shocked about the other two - i was hoping kristy lee cook & chikezie would be the ones to leave! oh i loved danny's whole swishy attitude & style along with his swipes at simon cowell...i agree with paula abdul - he added some spice to the competition - danny will be missed!

good morning! oh poor jane pitt (mom to brad and grandma to many) every once in awhile she gets dragged into the tabloids like below on the latest cover of STAR magazine - which is featuring a supposed dramatic blow-up between brangelina over their upcoming rumored wedding - filled with tantrums & tears! apparently brad got his mom to pitch in and help plan the nuptials but the shit hit the fan when angelina jolie found out jane wanted to invite jennifer aniston (who was probably just trying to be polite - she's still good friends with ms. aniston - who would probably politely decline the invite...) i can't wait for the day when angelina and jen finally come face to face - maybe then the drummed up drama between the two can finally be settled - they should totally do something for charity together - that would be hot! (last week i had the ladies starring in a movie together - perhaps next week i'll have them making a line of toys together or baking cookies with martha stewart)

hey hey! right now i'm watching american idol which is thankfully only an hour tonight (tomorrow, and thursday too) but i had to share this 'red-banded restricted' trailer (turn down the volume if you're at work but overall it's totally SFW) which was released today for the upcoming film the foot fist way - a small indie comedy (made in only 19 days on a shoe-string budget) about 'fred simmons' (played by danny mcbride) a tae kwon do instructor (be his friend on myspace) whose life starts to unravel (just watch the trailer below - it's hilarious) the film quickly became a smash hit at this year's sundance film festival - now it's getting a proper release on may 30th! this is going to a huge hit - it'll totally be the new napoleon dynamite! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!
