if this whole ordeal with Paris prevents just one person from driving drunk, it'll have been worth it....she is staying longer in jail than a normal person would for her offense, but the judge is making a martyr of her...

I agree with you. She should have just went in and got it over with. I am sure she'll have a spin doctor fix her image.

Can't believe I am saying this cause I am not a Paris fan at all. But.. she did NOT release herself, and to blame her for "not staying and doing her 23 days" is really not fair.

Before this I really couldnt stand the woman and I have not become a fan now, still, I can't help thinking she is getting worse treatment because of her persona. The sheriff, unlike the judge, said he didnt know who Paris was, had never seen a pic of her before, and was only treating her like he would any other lowrisk prisoner in his jail..(who, by the way, would never get this much time for her offense.) that had an illness his jail was unprepared to take care of.

I think the judge wants to be another judge Ito. Ironic really, one famewhore using another.

I do feel sorry for her. Imagine all the assholes who get DUI's had photographers camped on their doorstep, following them everywhere, media talking about them day and night, how they might feel. How many celebrities has DUI's in the last month??? Ty Pennington just got one...why aren't we harassing him?

The douche bag from the TV show Laguna Beach has been arrested FOUR TIMES for DUI, most recently assault, he was in court the same day across the street from Paris. What did he get? Thirty six hours for anger management and probation. No jail time period... and it is his fourth offense. His family lives in a $100 million dollar home plus in Newport Beach.

I think our legal system is a sham. If judges in our county were this zealous in getting child predator's off the street...it might be a safer world.

My source just gave me tons more info on the Paris Hilton 'health' saga in which I broke before TMZ and all others out there this morning!!!

Paris was having severe night sweats and drug withdraw after not having her sleeping medication and daily use of marijuana. This only led Paris into severe panic attacks, horrible sleeping habits, pacing of her tiny jail cell, depression and suicidal thoughts. Kathy expressed her concern for Paris and said she would do what ever possible to get her out of jail asap.

This apparently didn't take long, after Paris Hilton's therapist paid several visits to the heiress, where he was able to convince the staff she was mentally unstable and would be in better off with care at home in privacy. The jail also thought it was a HUGE liability to have Paris locked up with all her problems. They didn't want to be responsible for her safety or health any longer.

What a little money and fame will do for someone.
