good evening! anytime i can post about the NYC subway system i'm so in! it may sound funny but that's one of the things i miss most about my days in new york (besides my friends & broadway - i can't believe i'll have been in LA almost six years now!) i swear it's the best mass transportation system i've ever dealt with - it's great! of course in the summer it can get a little unpleasant but i always told people who may be in a rush - don't jump in cab - just hop on the subway - which is always more reliable than trying to deal with new york traffic! plus i usually felt quite safe - even falling asleep occasionally!
just yesterday the gay & lesbian network here! launched a month long subway campaign promoting their channel with the tagline gay television. no apologies. they do have some great programming but for me personally i don't like being pigeon holed into specific content buckets - i much prefer things to be mixed up a bit but nonetheless a little gay visibility is always good! sometimes popbytes gets categorized as a gay blog but the only thing that makes things queer around here is me - posting on strictly queer content would drive me up the wall! i don't even think about being gay to be honest - i'm just me take it or leave it - i'm very open and i've been out since high school...oh thank heavens that actually went ok! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!

hey boys & girls! oh yes it's time for tabloids...unfortunately this week's STAR magazine is hot on the heels of a grieving angelina jolie claiming that her & brad pitt took 'secret vows' at an 'intimate ceremony' to grant her mother's dying wish...now we all know everyone always loves a juicy & scandalous cover but this one is done with poor taste & judgement - marcheline bertrand just died at the young age of 56 this past weekend! i'm quite sure her mom totally approved of brad (what mom wouldn't?!?) and wanted them to be together but to claim it was her dying wish is stretching things a bit...what does everyone else think? i'm a little sensitive to this situation...i had two good friends lose their mom this past year and you all know by now how much i adore ms. jolie (don't forget i play on both team aniston & jolie - i love both jen & angelina!)
angelina is for sure going through something i dread dealing with and i'm glad she has brad to lend his support during this tough time...my thoughts & prayers are with the whole family! i wonder if she'll ever be able to make peace with her dad jon voight? the strained situation seems like a hopeless cause but trying to come to some kind of understanding with people who have wronged you (at least in my book) can be a good thing...who needs enemies or bottled up anger?!? it's best to get the issues out in the open - even if doesn't reach a resolution...

hey hey! see i told you it was retro day on popbytes...check out the legendary elizabeth taylor gracing the cover of the latest issue of interview magazine (feb '07) which is chock full of ms. taylor pictures including ones never published before! if you're fan of liz - this is a must have...it's packed to the brim with one of the most beautiful women to ever be projected up on the silver screen! back in the day i think a little privacy went a long way by adding a touch of class to stars back then - today there's no stone or pore (or paris) left unturned...
oh that liz - she's still kicking today (on feb 27th she'll turn 75) and what a character she has been! just recently she got involved with the upcoming presidential election when she endorsed hillary clinton by donating $100K to her campaign which was quickly cut down to the allowed donation limit of $2300! hollywood looks like it could be divided between mrs. clinton & barack obama...this could certainly be one of the most interesting elections we've seen (but don't forget i abhor politics!)

good morning! today popbytes is going just a drop retro! i've already had my pals graham & victoria tell me that i'd totally dig the pipettes - a group composed of three brighton UK gals who throw things back a bit with a modern twist (think phil spector & the ronettes kinda vibe) once i heard they'd be opening (and starting their US invasion) for my darling amy winehouse on march 13th at NYC's bowery ballroom - i knew i'd better get on the ball and give their debut album a listen titled we are the pipettes (released this past july...only in the UK)
