good evening! is anyone else looking forward to blades of glory? it's the new ice skating comedy from will ferrell and jon heder (long live our beloved 'napoleon dynamite') which rolls into theaters on march 30th - plus the film also stars my favorite funny couple will arnett & amy poehler! (does anyone else miss will as 'gob' on arrested development? oh that cancellation was a travesty!) i hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! i ran around all over today but it was raining - a total bummer but it has been so dry here we totally needed the extra moisture plus my car is a bit cleaner now too! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!

PAULA ABDUL...INTOXICATED IDOL?

good evening! i didn't get to catch american idol last night - so i'm catching up right now and tivoing the new one! i'm usually not a huge fan of the auditions but once i start watching even a minute - i'm totally hooked! plus of course i've got to keep my eye on paula abdul - our favorite messy judge! who really knows what's up with her...yeah she might be hitting the bottle or pills every now & again (who doesn't in hollywood?) but i think a large part of her craziness is just plain paula and her loopy self but that's why we love her! (i bet in like twenty years she'll write a book and talk about all the crap she was going through while on idol...) you guys know by now i'm really into messy women for some reason...the queen of the mess of course being courtney love who actually hasn't been so messy lately!

paula is also a huge guilty pleasure of mine! anytime i can mention cold hearted i'm thrilled! honestly the track from '89 (off her forever your girl album) is one of my top guilty pleasures of all time! that breakdown part - the whole sssssss-nake bit - it's the fucking best! (i listened to it like five times while writing this post) i've posted the video (directed by the way cool david fincher) below plus i've got a small funny (at least it was at the time) story that i'll try to make quick...back in college i had these crazy friend named kate and she was a dancer - one of those girls in NYC hitting auditions & classes (and all that jazz)


one night we were hanging out in her small times square apartment (probably a little stoned or drunk - likely both) she was all ok you have to guess which dance this is? she ran through her little number and i immediately had no clue...it was one of those choreographed bits that maybe lasts thirty seconds to a minute - i'm all i have no clue so she goes let me do it again! i watch her bust through the moves again and still i have no idea what it is - she goes i'm gonna do it again - watch really closely by the end she must have repeated the dance like ten times!

i finally said girl - you can do that fucking dance all night long - i don't know where the hell it's from!?! she tossed on her best pouty face and quietly said it's the dance from paula abdul's cold hearted video so yes now that dance has been forever burned into my brain - i'll never forget it! oh my gosh i wonder where that ms. kate is now - i lost touch with her a long time ago! (sidenote to my pal sarah - she's probably in brazil filming a commercial - ha!) i should do an intense myspace search!

anyways i think we'll just have to keep our watchful eyes on ms. abdul - the really messy episodes have usually occured when idol is live with performances - many thanks to my friends at STAR magazine for providing the paula 'intoxicated idol' abdul you see below...now there's a total good idea for a new show - there's a ton of people who could be the next intoxicated idol - first up is britney spears (gosh she can be tied into any story these days) popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo!

publicly, idol producers are standing behind abdul, with fox president peter liguori telling reporters on jan. 20, "america loves her, we're pleased with what paula does." even simon cowell defended his co-host, saying the situation has been "overblown," while randy jackson told reporters the only thing paula drinks is coke. jeopardy, particularly since this isn't the first time she's nabbed headlines for strange antics (during season two, she was accused of hav- ing sex with contestant corey clark, and last year she accused a prominent caa agent of assault, yet later dropped the charges).

MARY-KATE'S BBF (BEST BAG FOREVER - HA!)

oh that mary-kate olsen! this week's STAR magazine points out that our little geriatric dresser has been spotted with the very same bag now seven times! (oh the faux pas horror) i haven't even noticed her bag (my pal joey would since she's such a bag whore...i totally mean that in a nice way!) since everytime i see ms. olsen i can't believe that she goes out of the house with such horrible & unflattering outfits! i guess it goes to show that it's really true - billionaires are always the cheapest! come on mary-kate go splurge on a new bag...i hear nursing homes always have leftover stuff! her and twin sister ashley have already tapped deep into the tween girl market - they so need to tap the seniors! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!

ROSE MCGOWAN'S DROOPY EYE PROBLEM...

oh rose mcgowan - she has been the talk of a lot of rumors as of late (mainly that she has some sorta drug problem with cocaine) well this week's STAR magazine points out her new droopy eye...everything looked fine a few months ago but now her eye looks a little wonky (and quite bloodshot) i've always been a fan of ms. mcgowan's (jawbreaker rules) and hopefully she can get her act (and eye!) together in time to promote her upcoming film grindhouse (the splatter filled double feature with parts directed by quentin tarantino & robert rodriguez) maybe marilyn manson should dump that evan rachel wood chick and think about getting back together with ms. mcgowan - they were a great & spooky couple! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!

good morning everybody! oh rehab is so very in right now...we've got keith urban fresh out of rehab and lindsay lohan in rehab (who according to the cover below went on a big final fun drug binge before heading off to wonderland...) so who'll be next person to get on the rehab train? this week's STAR magazine is taking aim at britney spears who may not need to check herself in just yet but she's for sure walking a fine line!

maybe instead of rehab she should take herself and her two kids on vacation and rest up a bit...at only age 25 she's looking beyond crappy & weathered these days! ms. spears actually looked better when she did that lame matt lauer interview back a few months ago! the cover even claims that soon to be ex-hubby kevin federline has begged britney to get some help - oh the irony of it all!

hey boys & girls! oh man i'm thrilled the day is almost over - today was super long and of course there's still more work to do but i really need to sleep very soon! tonight i had the chance to see MIKA play down at the roxy on sunset - it was an invite only show and way packed - all for the promotion of his debut album life in cartoon motion which is releasing soon over in the UK and then march in the states! i spotted singer natasha bedingfield (shorter in person) & magic man david blaine (who was so fucking gorgeous & mysterious in person - me and popbytes reader zach couldn't stop staring!)

there were other famous faces in the crowd that i spotted but sometimes i cannot place a face with a name! mika did a phenomenal job of playing live - very energetic & oh so sexy! this was his second show in the US (he played last night in NYC) and mika's very first los angeles show! he has been blogged & buzzed about for months (he was this week's 'monday .mp3') he's got a really accessible but way cool style and i think he'll do quite well! there's no doubt you'll be hearing more about mika here on popbytes! oh my gosh - i'm so over & out for tonight! rock & blog on...xxoo!

KATE WINSLET'S HOLLYWOOD LIFE...

good evening y'all! oh tomorrow is going to be a big long day...the oscar nominations will be announced (by the lovely salma hayek) at 5:30am (los angeles time) and i'm going to try to bust out of my bed around then so i can watch beyonce get snubbed live (i'm sorry girl but i just don't think you're going to make the cut but i still love ya) for me the most pleasant surprise would be to see the amazing and wickedly talented laura dern nab a best actress nomination for her incredible tour de force performance in kooky david lynch's very bizarre but quite brilliant & haunting inland empire but that's a long shot just like ms. knowles...and as for jennifer hudson she already has the gold statue in her bag...she'll for sure win an oscar - count on it!

however we may see kate winslet nab another oscar nod for her work in little children which i still haven't seen! this year i'm going hardcore people - i'll make sure between tomorrow and the oscar ceremony (feb 25th) that i see all the films nominated so i'll be able to provide the most in-depth (and hopefully witty) live oscar coverage popbyes has ever done! (oh my word i just made a big commitment but i'll keep it!) so to kick-off some oscar buzz there's ms. winslet looking stunning & gorgeous on the cover of hollywood magazine - although i can't stand titanic (it was good back then but i'm over it now) she has always been great (and like a broken record if you haven't seen the life of david gale - it's a total popbytes must-see) i'm over & out for now and hopefully i'll be seeing you all super early tomorrow...xxoo! (i'm so not a morning person - i'm like a zombie - nights work much better for me - tomorrow night promises to be good though as i'll be seeing mika live!)

good morning! oh i've got a very busy week ahead plus my folks are flying in for a visit from back east - so i'm also having to do some cleaning! but tomorrow (tuesday) night i scored tickets to see singer / songwriter mika play at the roxy - he's set to release his debut album life in cartoon motion (great title) over in the UK on february 5th (the US release will be on march 27th) there's been a ton of buzz on him already (i posted his song 'relax' back in november) plus i've heard he's quite good playing live - i can't wait! so for this week's 'monday .mp3' i've selected his fun & quirky track grace kelly plus you can also catch the brand new video for the song! I LOVE MY NINTENDO WII!

good evening y'all! so even though i had a bunch of work to deal with i did manage to get in a bit of game time with my new nintendo wii! i've literally been trying for weeks to get my hands on one...someone needs to step up the production of this amazing game system - they're not easy to come by! early this morning i lined up outside electronics boutique over on sunset & vine (near the sunday farmers' market on ivar) i was second in line and quickly others were behind me - i'm guessing the store only had about 15 systems to sell and were gone in a flash! i got really lucky to have snagged one! (i wasn't going to pay more than the $250 retail price...some were selling for double that over on ebay!)

i've always been a huge nintendo geek since the very first NES and i've had 'em all the way up to the 'gamecube' - plus there's good news for cubers - the wii is backwards compatible so you can play all of your old GC games and ditch the cube! of course i was super curious about how the 'remote' wireless controllers would handle themselves and i'll tell you it's like freakin' magic - so seamless & very impressive! the system came with wii sports where you can play tennis, bowl, box, and golf! the tennis is so damn fun and the remote as a racquet is kick-ass - plus i really enjoyed the boxing - popbytes actually worked up a sweat!

i also picked up the lastest legend of zelda installment (twilight princess) and i know i'll be spending lots of hours with mr. link running around hyrule & dungeons! the one thing i'm bummed about is the wii 'mario' game (super mario galaxy) won't be hitting stores until november! he's my favorite game character - mario rocks! i'm sure sony's new PS3 is great as well but the with a decent price tag mixed w/ the way fun controllers - nintendo is going to do quite well with their new wii! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo!

LILY ALLEN - DISCOVERED & DOWNLOADED!

hey kids! oh it has been a good day already - i finally secured a nintendo wii this morning after waiting weeks for them to come back in stock! i've only played with it a little bit so far but already i totally love my wii!!! anyways i've got to go and run some errands now but i wanted to make sure y'all knew about lily allen's upcoming 'download & discover' tour she's doing with MTV - i've already got my tickets to the LA show! here's more info on where to buy tickets and all that jazz! stay tuned here on popbytes i've got some more fun lily stuff coming up soon!
