I am seriously in a state of complete and utter shock. I think I may have heard something about the rumors a few weeks ago on a message board, but I had completely forgot about them (probably because I assumed they were lies).

This really is a landmark for gays in the media. NEVER has a mainstream rapper (more importantly a black one) come out of the closet.

It'll be interesting to see how the Hip-Hop community treats him now.

Well, if Ne-Yo is gay he's certainly not out. This story is a complete and utter fabrication. Not only is there absolutely no mention of it anywhere on Essence's website or any other major website for that matter, (remember when Lance came out it was everywhere ... and Ne-Yo is hotter than Lance now), but the actual article is SO poorly written it can't possibly be real. Nobody who believes this story bothers to read just one sentence of it, which should tip you off right away:The newly famed singer/songwriter has come out of the closet and announced that he is gay.

Also there are numerous punctuation and grammatical errors.

If he is gay and decides to announce it then that's great, more power to him as an out singer/songwriter. But there's no need to fabricate rumors where our noses shouldn't be. I really hope that it is not true becasue he has so much talent and this could really hurt his career. First of all Ne-Yo is not gay that is jus a rumor they said it on the radio today that is is just a lie he's not even in the essence magazine for October! So whoeva posted this is lyin and they need to stop lyin on him!

I would just like to say that if it is or isn't true, should that REALLY matter ... yes, I know that in the world we live in - particularly, this country - image is everything to the music industry. Earlier, someone mentioned something about Lance coming out and people being shocked ... no offense to cultures, but sometimes, one can tell if a person swings that way or not through body language, speech, or whatever ... notice, I said SOMETIMES ... and how many of the people who that were shocked were black or white ... it seems that, unfortunately, society has their standards of what is "gay" and what is not ... based on years of examples, many people have a sense for who may be gay or not ... it's kinda like the whole Clay Aiken ordeal with him being called out, and "everyone" being shocked ........ among my friends, we all knew he was gay - no one had to tell us that!! It seemed to me that it was apparent that people see what they want to see ... they wanted to believe that Clay was not gay - to believe that Lance was not either ... my question is, what difference does it make in a time such as this. You either like the person's musical style, or you don't!! I personally don't like Ne-yo to that degree, but just noticed that this is becoming a trend, and the way it's published has been different everytime - at least within these three stories ... people were apalled with Clay's coming out, accepting of Lance's, and now Ne-yo ... if he is, maybe it will be an even split ......

I really don't care about the sexual orientation of a person, as along as his music is good and he's done nothing to harm anyone. Who freaking cares if him likes guys. I'm cool with it. =)
