mel gibson gets a dui!

Once upon a time I looked at Mel Gibson as a face–what a face! That face coupled with some really entertaining movies and I was hooked. Sign me up for the one woman fan club.
Then all that controversy over the Passion and I began to look beyond the face. Naturally I had to have a peek at the movie and found it annoying. I couldn’t see the dialog because of the enormous bobbing head in front of me. The endless gore was perhaps realistic but more than added to my annoyance. Was the movie anti-Semitic? No, but Mel was and is. The story was real and the event God-directed but the intent was to generate anti-Semitism.
Now the drunk driving episode just brings that feeling home. He talks about his faith? What faith sets a family man on a drunk driving spree in the first place? And yes, the substance unloosed his tongue to state his true feelings and that is an indisputable fact.
No, I’m not Jewish, I’m Methodist, but this event would inspire me to say of Mel, “typical Catholic”. I only address my prejudices when someone lives down to the negative stereotypes of whatever group they are a member.
